Does anyone know how to find out how many active patients we have. AC used to give the number of patients every time you restarted the program. That is gone. You can get to the total number of patients through the search feature, but cannot limit it to active patients.

I have found the current search feature limited. At times I will search by phone number or patient id and the record won't come up, while at other times it does. From my (scary) little bit of programming knowledge and the use of access, I would really appreciate more flexible use of my own data. Is that a part of CCHIT or whatever it is called that is coming in the next version.

In talking with Jon and Guardian Angel Support it appears that the newer versions of AC will have more extensive searching capabilities. I think that the issue of ACCESS searching is that CCHIT has a lot of concerns about data security and I know Jon does. I don't think we can blame him for not allowing just open access to the data because of HIPAA concerns and such.

I think searching will definitely get better in my conversations with Jon

We to NEED access to our database; I realize that having ability to change data in the .mdb file is not allowable for good reason. Why not read only though? The search function in AC is too limiting for what we need for grants, etc in the tribal system. We are having to devise all kinds of work arounds.

Why can't we search by ICD code?

Why when searching on multiple criteria including diagnosis does it not show the ICD or diagnosis whereas when one searches for a diagnosis only, it does?

What would be the problem of being able to make a copy of the database for read only purposes? It's our data after all....
Or isn't it?
