I have a jpeg and bmp file that I use with Paperport to stamp but I am having problems using it in AC V4. What is the proper size needed? Is it the pixel size or the physical size that is important?
I tried resizing in Photoshop to 1/2" in height but that did not seem to matter when I tried to import the file in ACV4
Thanks Greg Phillips

This is what I did: 1. Scanned signature. 300 dpi (why? don't know. That was the setting in my scanner) 2. Saved to jpg 3. Opened file with paint 4. Edit -> "Select all" 5. Resized signature down to something that seemed like it would fit in the little rectangle. (Make sure the signature is as close to left upper corner of the jpg file as you can make it) 6. Saved file to a new name, just in case. 7. Browsed and selected file 8. Went back to paint and repeated steps 4 to 7 about 10 times until signature fit well and was not cut off. 9. Went home, had a beer, and kicked the neighbor's cat. (Not hard)
Hope this helps.

It is a bit difficult. Interesting steps gcarcamo. But, it worked. I have had much difficulty as well. I guess I will need to kick a cat, lol. Greg if you have Adobe Photoshop, you should be able to take a life size photo of Mount Rushmore and fit it in a stamp. That app is amazing. My advice if using Photoshop would be to ask a question in one of the many Photoshop message boards. I have a couple I go to.

Finally sat down and played some more with the signature file.
My final file is a bitmap that is 177 pixels by 46 pixels and is 75 pixels/inch resolution = 2.36 x 0.6 inches
It looks like the number of pixels is the important measurement. When I shrank the image size in PhotoShop but kept the total number of pixels constant, nothing changed in AC.

We should keep a "sticky" with Greg's measurements above.

I could not get my signature to fit with 46 pixel height. It did fit, with 36 pixel height. But I could have gone longer on the width. I used 177 pixel width and it did not fill the preview box.. I'm thinking closer to 200 would still fit.. just kinda tight with only 36 pixels. Best of luck to the next person to try it. I love the feature, just a pain to resize and resize. Hopefully won't have to do that again.

I just did the following:
Scanned in as bmp format. Opened with Paint - made a box around the signature only. Right clicked on the box and copy to desktop. Then opened just that on desktop and used box, right click. Used the sizing feature (50%, 75%, etc) and saved to desktop again. Under Admin imported sig - didn't fit and did again. Actually only took 2 or 3 attempts to make one fit. Whole process less than 10 minutes (started to make signature by taking out AC scrip and signing it (used that as starting size in scan).

I may need your help when I go to do mine again. Microsoft really needs to come up with a better answer to Photoshop than the outdated Paint. Any application named Paint is a bit crazy.

I simply scanned my actual signature on paper using Greyscale at 300 dpi , then saved it as a .bmp file. In Microsoft Paint, you can edit the file by drawing a box around your signature and cropping it within a few mm of the edges. Then drag it to the top left hand corner and then resize it by dragging the corner of the box inward. If you can get the new box to 1/2" by 2.75", it will fit perfectly into the AC bitmap window. I then saved the edited .bmp file in the AC directory like neilsig.bmp, and referred to it in the admin section when I browsed for the file. It may take a little trial and error, but was fairly easy. I wrote to Jon's people to suggest that they include the bitmap sig on not only the Rx's but also the Orders, and also as cosignature on mid-level providers Rx and orders and notes as well. Hope above helps. V4 is great!!! I am glad I upgraded. Bert, I think you can go ahead now.

It is happening as we speak. Just have to get a little RSV baby tucked in. Damn, I hate RSV. Good for the bank account, bad for anxiety.

The good news: I have uLead Photoimpact. Wow. Imported the .bmp, cropped it, decreased it by 50% and that was it. Literally, under two minutes. Trial versions here: http://www.ulead.com/download/download.htmThe bad news: Loaded the signature in every user. Looked great. But, then would go away with the next patient. Then, I realized it only works with the regular 8 1/2 by 11 scripts. I was so excited about the signature thing. Now, I deleted the signature so the path doesn't exist, and it is still there. This only affects the few of us that use the TPS 800 Star Printer.

The signature also works on letters that you write to the patients or other doctors. You might want to keepp it for that. Jon has said that they will hopefully add the signature for other scrips, just got delayed.

Thanks Steve. I noticed that. It didn't quite line up the same. I may use it for that, but the scripts in general have always been kind of left behind on Jon's list.
When you are in the scripts area in admin, you can choose between script formats rather easily. If you can do it there, you should be able to change from the script write. I have asked but no response.
But, the uLead program is awesome for making it.

I think you have a prejudice against PAINT - I got it to work in under 2 minutes...just kidding. I know the program sucks, but it does work in a pinch. When I talked to Jon he was going to work on the scrips because I told him after he released it that we needed to be able to turn it off for Schedule II. He said that after the CCHIT or whatever he would work on it again.

No prejudice here. Hey, I have used it for screenshots for years. It just makes it hard to do signatures. At least for this novice.
Hey Steve,
Watch for my next two posts, k. Need your help on something.

I have put my signature in the Administrative option window, and it appears nicely inside the box. However, it does not print on the scripts????? What didn't I do. Peggy

Which format do you use ? Seems to only work on the 8.5 x 11 inch standard format.

Exactly, only works on the regular scripts. If you use any other format, like I do, it won't work. Very frustrating.

Did you reboot the computer after scanning it in ? A neighboring practice had the same problem - I went over and reimported the sig and it worked fine. I would reboot and then redo it if it still doesn't work.
