Hi all -
I updated to V4 recently - with partial success. I report here the problem and a workaround. Apologies if this is already on the user board - could not find it.
Office setup: "main" computer is a desktop with Vista 32 bit system - install and migration from V3 went fine, with help of AC staff member. Install on secondary front desk desktop (Vista 32 also) went fine.
BUT: my working computer is a laptop with Vista 64 bit Ultimate (don't get me started on woes with 64 bit...). V3 installed fine on this machine, but I do recall having to download special programs and install manually to get it to work - still, did it myself without much problem. HOWEVER, V4 apparently is not working with Vista 64 bit - and I did not see this anywhere in the install info, or on this User Board (but shame on me for not asking specifically). AC Service says they are working on this, and expect a fix soon (but that was 3 weeks ago).
SO: I was left with V4 on the front desk machines, but unusable V3 on the laptop I use for visits (since the data had been migrated).
WORKAROUND: From my laptop, I use Remote Desktop Connection to connect with the desktop, exactly like I do from home. It's a bit slower, but not much (but I do have occasional pauses and dropped signals). It'll do till AC gets a Vista64 solution up and running.
Hope this helps someone.

Steve,
You could add XP Pro and dual boot. Or, run Virtual PC on Vista 64 bit and run XP in VM. I sent you a good link to Experts Exchange, which covers that topic. I think if you have enough RAM, it will work better than RDC.

Thanks for the info Bert. Given time required to setup, and to dual boot, and that I've got all else I need on Vista64 running, I'll just hang in there till AC gets a 64 bit version working (they did it with V3...prob the same issues all over again). Steve

I have been using V4.60 on 64-bit Vista on an HP Touchsmart fine w/o any problems except the initial install, for which I had to use the separate .MSI package and not the regular .EXE installer. My database is on a Windows 2000 Server, and this install was no problem. I have not had any glitches w/ speed or ability of the 64-bit computer to run or connect to my other machines or the database. Just thought you would want to know this. V4.60 does run on 64-bit VISTA.

Steven, It looks like Neil has your answer. But, I think my dual boot idea wasn't as good as the Virtual Machine.

Neil -
Where did you find the file you needed for the 64 bit install? Would you mind outlining the steps, if there is anything not obvious or intuitive?
Thanks, Steve

We are about to release into beta a version that seems to install fine in the instances where some 64 bit systems have run into issues. This version is at our beta site, and we anticipate it will be formally released this week.
