Hi. I am new to AC and the forum. I have done some searching for topics related to nursing home use and I haven't been able to determine what my best option would be. I will be using AC only in nursing homes. I will not be able to log in to my server when I am at the nursing homes. My biller will be using Medisoft on the server and I will be using AC on a laptop. I will have AC loaded on the server as well and will be interfacing with xlink. I would like to be able to upload new charges and notes to the server and download demographics only into the laptop. I do not see patients anywhere else and I am the only provider with only one biller. What is the best way to transfer the data from the laptop to the server? Should I just restore all AC data instead of syncing?

You could sync (I am not sure V4 has solved issues in this regard), you might be able to remotely log in through internet portal if each nursing home had a means to do so.
Synching appears to be the most practical way.
But then, if it is the same laptop everywhere, you could simply copy your database to the desktop to transfer info, but if you are using multiple laptops or machines, synching is more practical.
How will you send the files to your biller? If they are in the office fine, If you are remotely sending to them, that could be done from the laptop.
I do not think you cannot selectively load demographics only. It would be an all or nothing proposition without a lot of work.

Agree. Since you will be using Medisoft with xlink, I think your best choices are to use the sync feature of AC, or to remote to your server using the nursing homes Wi-Fi connection; I vote the latter. I expect they will allow you to log in, since you are a provider.
Follow up if the sync feature works for you. I have heard discussion of it, but I haven't tried it yet.

I will be using only one laptop. I can't connect from the nursing homes to my server. I have read that there are issues syncing so I am a little leary of syncing. I spoke with xlink and they said that I could set up the link to upload billing info from AC and download only the demographics. So do you think just reloading all my data when I return from the nursing homes will work?

In V3 you have to move 6 files and from one computer to the other and all the data is transferred. Open the AC folder and go to detailed view, sort by date and you will find the six .mdb files you need to move. Slightly more complitcated in V4 but also doable.
