At the risk of starting threads on medical questions which may not be a good thing for the forums -- I don't know, maybe it would. But, I have a Lamictal questions.

Just got a new patient whose psychiatrist had put her on 500 mg bid of Depakote (a medication that can elevate the Lamictal level substantially). She was on Lamictal 425 mg bid, which is a hefty dose especially given the VPA.

She had been having intermittent symptoms of headaches, thought disturbances, eye problems, etc. and her doctor did three MRIs and four EEGs. Apparently, two or three normal studies of each isn't enough to convince this psychiatrist.

I did a trough level, and it came back 18.2. Normal range is 4 to 12. That isn't a huge number, but I would guess her peak is higher.

Has anyone had experience with abnormal Lamictal levels? Would this be considered abnormal enough to cause symptoms?

Bert, the initial starter kit( blue kit instead of the orange kit) for lamictal is different for someone on depakote. It is a much more gradual titration. Yes to your second question.
