Isn't that the one that is supposed to include PM? I'd love to at least be able to enter co-pays and have the office staff enter blood sugars, EKG's, etc while the encounter is in progress and BEFORE the note is completed and signed.

Bruce, Well I am really going to get in trouble and have Jon screaming at me. I was kind of talking tongue in cheek. Getting 4,0 out, then CCHIT does are the priorities.

Understood. CCHIT or whatever else ends in -HIT would be the priority but I don't think the co-pay and test entry would take a major overhaul. Working on paper you wouldn't wait until the end of the documentation to look at the result or record it on the superbill, would you?

Agreed. And, you are right, that is very important. Some things seem to linger for a long time and never get fixed. Case in point is the letter writer.
But, I do know that part of the problem is that Jon gets inundated with requests and suggestions as what to fix and how to make it better. It is just hard sometimes. At times, the code has been written, and it would take a major rewrite of the code to do a small thing.
I must say that AC is one of the few programs where suggestions can be made in real time, and Jon listens and actually incorporates them.
I do know that in the past AC was more like Firefox in that updates came down two or three times per month. I like that approach and wish that everything was done to make the AC program the best it can be. But, now things are done more like other companies.
For instance, I have emailed Microsoft about ideas, and they even get back to me. But, they aren't going to make one change between 2003 and 2007 other than security patches.
One of the analogies to the Superbill issue is Microsoft's failure to every change the Outlook Today screen. It looks like something out of 3.1, and it doesn't help a user in anyway. I at times go over a year without even looking at it.
But, keep bringing up things. They will eventually get done.

I understand - though we are focused not only on the release of V4, but also getting CCHIT certified (V5), and - what we've been promising for quite some time - a great PM system (?V6).
We are in the process of redesigning our internal software development process to allow multiple items to be developed at the same time. As soon as we feel CCHIT is at the point where we can safely start to focus on other aspects, we'll be getting back into the PM (which we actually had started at the Amazing Charts Users Conference in June 2008), as well as patient/practice portal, iPhone/PDA integration, and a ton of other neat features that will eventually make us providers happy with our existence and jobs...
So hang in there! We know what is needed and are building our infrastructure to allow this to happen in the near, rather than far, future. (Though feel free to ask when, where, how, and why!)

Thanks Jon. But, you have to tell me when, where, how and what version is going to make us primary care providers happy. That would have to be at least V20.
