In another posting, I wrote that one of my laptops was sending me a message that said "Microsoft.NET Framework has encountered a problem and must close." I tried uploading the SP1 for this program but can't get it to load. This is preventing AC 4.0 from loading on this machine. I looked in the software removal area and see that there is currently Microsoft.NET Framework 1.0 and 2.0 loaded. What do I need to do? Pray? Thanks Dave

Hmm, I havn't had that problem, but you could try to jump past the issue. Uninstall any installation of AC, and intall the newest version of .net You can find it here.

.NET framework has been problematic with upgrades. I have on SEVERAL machines had issues where it wanted the newer version of .NET but it frequently will not let you upgrade without starting from square one - ie. removing all of .NET versions and reinstalling. I FINALLY got my laptop to install the latest .NET by downloading the Full installation versions to disk and running the installation. I believe .NET 3.5 was the most recent version when I installed it. Once I got it installed, the installation of the other program(s) requiring it worked fine.

I tried to remove Net Framework through the "add/remove software" program on windows. That wouldn't work. I finally went to the Microsoft support page and found an entry that instructed how to manually remove the 2.0 .Net Framework. I finally got it off the machine, reloaded it directly from Microsoft and it loaded without problem. Then loaded 4.0...and voila...everything is up and running!! Dave
