Hi guys:

Sorry I haven't posted in a while; as you all know, things have been popping ever since President Obama got elected. If you don't find me here or at emrupdate, you can find me at MD Net Guide where I'll now have my own column (the "HIT Realist") to rant about things every month. It'll be sent in magazine form to about 250,000 offices!

My first article, "We Should Not Be So Quick to Rush into E-prescribing" is here- http://www.hcplive.com/mdnglive/articles/PC_rush_into_e-prescribing .

My second article will be out by April and the near-final piece is here- "Congress Passes Stimulus Bill; What Should You Do Now?", URL: http://www.box.net/shared/7bsgz3z76x .

Anyhow, there is an incredible thread at Histalk where they interviewed Glen Tullman, who is the CEO of Allscripts and who seems to have bought his way into the White House through a total payment of about $175000.00 to Obama's election campaign.

This guy claims to be the mastermind of the "carrot/stick" idea of toying with how Medicare will pay us in the future. Anyhow- the letters-to-the-editor ripped into him bigtime, and make for a great read that would make any emrupdate war look like a walk in the park!

It would be good if more folks write in- hey, it may just reach the president! In the very least, you can read about how a vendor has been able to buy his way to power in order to pad his pockets. If this guy has his way, you'll all be using his product by the time Obama finishes his 4 year term to retire in Hawaii.

Anyhow, I should have taken a Xanax before writing in; I was just plain angry and my post was really nasty... I almost feel bad about it. (key word is "almost")

Al

Thanks, Martin!

BTW, Jon just wrote in-

http://histalk2.com/2009/02/05/histalk-interviews-glen-tullman-ceo-of-allscripts-2509/

He added a new phrase to the current political lexicon- "Slow down!"

It's just a notch below the "President Obama- are you listening?"

Interestingly, Glen Tullman was interviewed by Histalk in 2006- then he was praised and the interview and feedback were all very positive... not now (URL for that interview in the URL above (just added it last night).

Al - I appreciate your clear outline of this issue. Most articles I read on e-prescribing are nonsense but yours was SPOT ON! keep it up
