I am sooo glad I tried to synch over the weekend so i did not loose any down time. I had terrible luck. I copied the database to my laptop and headed out for rounds. I signed a few charts on the desktop to see how synch handled changes on the home file whilst I was rounding. Came back and used the synch button. I listened to the warnings and backed up. My trusty desktop sprang to life and I heard the hard drive clicking away, the fans came on, a small green highlighted area on the screen told me about the progress. Everynow and then it changed to show me some other table was being compared, or merged or whatever.. I forget. This went on for over 20 minutes!! I CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what taskmanager had to say about the progress and I watched as it continued to use 80 % CPU and only 127 MB of my page file. After another 10 minutes, I gave up and closed the program from taskmanager. I opened amazing charts and it appears as if my data merged beautifully even though I ended the process before it was all finished. But I cannot exam three years of charts to know if it is not corrupted or what. So I deleted my files and restored the backup files (from the laptop minus only the few notes I already signed off on the desktop). And then signed those, and went home to post this. Any ideas what went wrong? Or is it really supposed to take this long. I'm using an Intel Pentium 4 at 1.6 gHz with only 256 MB of RAM and using Windows XP Pro for my OS. I'd appreciate any help or feedback. -Santos

Santos, First off; Have you called the folks at tech support and asked them all the correct questions to see what they have to say about it? But, I've got a copy of the last version of Altapoint's PM program's manual which has a fairly interesting SYNC feature in it. The instructions are very detailed and many pages long; and obviously making sure you go in the proper order, step by step is key. I know you are a detailed and experienced user so I'm sure that you followed the directions as best as possible. But, even back when this feature was in Beta form, I was requesting that AC post their own very detailed step by step set of instructions that one could review and digest BEFORE they started the whole process and I still wish they would now. Also, perhaps a conceptual out line of what is happening would allow users to have a better understanding of the entire process, and in doing such, there would be less confusion for all. As I've said before, a well laid out set of instructions can save tech support and users a whole lot of headaches in the long run...Let us all know how this turns out and thanks for the update. Paul

Santos For what it is worth, my IT help, on retainer, specializes in networks and has a lot of experience with ACCESS. My son is the director of a web design department in a large firm and also has a lot of experice with ACCESS. Both of them told me not to even try the sync until way down the road when it has been tried out by every one else. They say that ACCESS is very unstable syncing. I would like to use AC on my laptop, which I have with me at work and home, but based on their advice, I am not even trying to sync now. Sam Horowitz, DPM FACFAS C.Ped

Question for the class; have any of you called tech support and asked for a walk thru, explaination or assistance? I would but because of my previous issues surrounding our numbers and data, I'm sort of on the "naughty list" and so my questions are not really welcome right now. But back when the SYNC feature first came out, tech support offered to schedule a walk thru with me. At first the girls seemed a bit unsure of themselves back then and so I opted to wait a bit until they were better up to speed on the thing. Then other issues came about and so I never got there. Yet helping us all understand and use the feature(s) is something I would hope tech support would do. As I've said before, well laid out instructions whether in the help files or post here, would probably save both us and tech support alot of grief and time. I'm curious as to how this all shakes out.

I HAD BEEN ABLE TO SYNC SINCE JAN UNTIL 1 MONTH AGO WHEN THE 3.6.11 UPDATE CAME INTO EFFECT. I WAS ABLE TO SYNC TWO DIFFERENT LAPTOPS TO THE SERVER WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW....FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH. I HAVE TWO OFFICE LOCATIONS WHERE I USE THE LAPTOPS FOR SCHEDULING AND MAINLY FOR NOTES. I DONT IMPORT AT THE REMOTE OFFICE SO IT HAD BEEN WORKING GREAT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS...CURRENTLY WE ARE TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEMS SINCE GOING FROM 3.6.9 TO 3.6.11 TO 3.6.12...
