Can I use copy and paste from "imported items" section to "most recent encounter" section, such as a med list etc?

When you import items do you do that as text file (OCR or direct typing) ? I could not see how if your imported item is PDF, TIFF, JPG or whatever you could pull it out.

I scan in all documents and they magically become PDF files.

I believe pdf is still just an image, not actual text so that you cannot just copy and paste. You would need to convert the pdf image into text...........

That's one of the nice things about the full (way too pricey) version. As soon as you try to do something like above, it asks if you want to convert to OCR. Fairly foolproof.

I've figured it out. Thanks VERY easy. I had my snapscan 510 (which we love) set to make all the documents into PDF. If I simply change the setting to scan with OCR then I can copy and paste all I want. Copy from imported items and paste into anywhere in recent encounter with Shift/Paste. Wonderful.

Stuart- is the OCR accurate enough? Are you then saving the imported item as a word doc?

I've messed around with this a little. Converting to OCR while scanning slows down my scannig person. Then the lab data is not usually formated to copy easily to the encounter section. For lab data that I need to discuss in the note, I find myself handwriting or memorizing it off the Imported Items screen, then typing in the Enounter screen. This method kind of sucks either way.
I can think of a lot of easier ways to do this. For example, if anyone uses Roboform, it has a suitcase icon next to alot of the data and clicking that copies it to the clipboard. Displaying formatted HL7 lab data at the same time you are entering the encounter could let you copy items easily to the text.
