I seem to be posting a lot of questions lately. Thank you all for indulging me with your responses.
I started this small private practice of mine in August 2008, and began using Newcrop for ePrescribing early on. It's OK, with its quirks and all its kinda interfaced with AC.
Now, as part of my role as CMIO for our hospital, I am pushing DrFirst Rcopia to the rest of the folks. Lucky for them, none of them have an EMR. That leaves me as the early adopter trying to decide what to do.
I know at least one member here uses AC and Rcopia, without them talking to each other. Is there another solution? What is the new ePrescribing integration that is coming with V4? The very accommodating folks at DrFirst says they can get me a bidirectional XML interface. I hesitate to even ask for an interface from AC since it will be upgraded to v4 soon.
Advice from the group? Perhaps comments from Jon?
Thanks.

It's decision time. I need to get off NewCrop and get on to Rcopia.
Jon, if you are here, is there much hope of integrating DrFirst Rcopia into Amazing Charts?
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I have been looking at Rcopia as well, and it does look interesting. Anyone other users have any thoughts. I think this is a very important topic.

Hi everybody,
I practice in Ohio, to attempt to address the escribing hurdle, the State Board of Pharmacy will only allow "approved CCHIT certified emrs" or approved escribing programs. New Crop is not an option for me, however Rcopia is....
I realize that Jon cannot accomodate everyone's particular need or preference but in the quest to associate/affiliate with any escribing software are the needs of particular STATES being looked at? It might be a more daunting task for Jon and his team than we realize, as perhaps one option might not work...
At present I am looking at Rcopia as a possible solution to my escribing needs when I am ready to jump that hurdle.
Just some thoughts from a sleep-deprived Pulm/CCM, thanks for indulging.

Well, I am getting off Newcrop and sigining myself onto Rcopia this weekend. Until Jon's team has time, I guess I am going to cut and paste from the Rcopia webpage into the AC medications pane. I just have to be careful to never let the medications pane refresh. Otherwise, I will have to do double entry every time I change a med.
DrFirst is happy to give me an XML interface, if there is a way for AC V.4 to use that to synchronize meds.

I'm having a real hard time with the medications list. I've been using the Newcrop interface. I have to enter each med each time I want to prescribe it and click interminably to finally transmit the script. Then it doesn't feed back to the chart with a date of prescribing. When I check my med lists, inactivated medicagtions reappear on the active med list and there are duplicates from the Newcrop interface. Do I have to just put up with this? I had DrFirst hooked up for awhile, but I never learned how to use it.

So yesterday I bit the bullet and transferred eRx from NewCrop to DrFirst Rcopia. It was painful to have to re-enter all demographic, allergy, and pharmacy info that I painstakingly inputed in NewCrop for each patient over the last few months. Fortunately, SureScripts/RcHUB history seems to be more complete and available in Rcopia.
To keep my med list accurate, I copy and paste the sig string into the standard Rx window, without the rest of sig parameters, and then press update button. This way, it appears correctly in the chart notes.
I plan to work this way until AC v.4 is in production, and then I will figure out a way to sync the xml from DrFirst into the database.

I practice in Ohio, to attempt to address the escribing hurdle, the State Board of Pharmacy will only allow "approved CCHIT certified emrs" or approved escribing programs. New Crop is not an option for me, however Rcopia is.... Both NewCrop & DrFirst are "SureScripts GoldRxâ„¢ Certified Solution Providers", so this should meet the requirements of your state board. The certified eRx programs and their capabilities are listed here: http://www.surescripts.com/get-connected.aspx?ptype=physicianSo using NewCrop with AC should not be a problem. I do agree (see my past posts) that the interface is very non-intuitive, and doesn't mesh with the AC med list very well at all.

So it looks like NewCrop is not in the GoldRx list, according to the link, there are only six of them and Allscripts counts as two.

I stand corrected, its in the "SureScripts-RxHub Certified Solution Providers" list below the gold list, with all its services certified.
