It will be great to be able to have more than one patient open at the same time. Now you have to save one patient before you open another.

Dralberti, I have seen some of the other users work around this limitation using a program called Virtual PC allowing them to open multiple charts at a time by logging into remote computers on your network simultaneously that run AC so you can have an open chart on each of them and read them from your one computer. -Santos

UltraVNC works pretty well, too. We've had better luck with it than Real VNC.

Quite by accident our MA Michele just opened two charts, almost... It does seem that the program will allow you to have one patient open for just demographics and another for the full chart. We have not tried changing or updating info nor to chart an encounter in this fashion yet. Don't want to screw anybodies chart up by accident. Has anbody done this and have they tried to change or update anything? Does it work and is it safe? Don't want to save the wrong patient's stuff to the other one's chart...

Yes, you can open demographics or write a prescription while another chart is open on the same computer and you can write on both without any fear of messing up data. We do this all the time. Especially during interruptions. We have multiple computer stations and can open different patient charts at the same time, even the same patient's chart on two different computers and forward it to yourself or someone else and both will appear in your inbox.
