I am wondering if anyone can help me out or if they have encountered the same problem.

On spell checkers such as in Word, if the spell check finds a misspelled word such as "forwrd" you are given a list of words in the windows below to choose from a possible replacements. Most of the time, there is one there. If the word is spelled correctly and spell check just doesn't recognize it, you click on Add, and it adds it to the spell check dictionary.

But, there is always the following scenario. You spell the word "forwrd" incorrectly. If the recommended replacement is not there, then you have the option of clicking in the field where the misspelled word is, change the spelling to "forward" and then click on Add and go on your merry way.

In AC, at least in my experience, you are screwed at that point. In the same scenario, I change the misspelled word, but no matter what I choose on the right, I can't fix it. I have no way to get back to the letter.

I tried several things under dictionaries at the bottom, and I thought I had solved it, but I couldn't reproduce any successes.

So, in the end, either:

I am doing something very stupid (likely)
Someone can shed some light on this, or
This is a very bad spellchecker

Bert,
Have you tried correcting the spelling in spellchecker box, hit "Change", and then if the word is not in the spellchecker's dictionary, hit "Add"?

Have you tried that with success?

When I try that and hit "Change" it brings up the message that you have to print the note in order for it to be saved to the chart. Once you click change, you are done.

Bert, it is just you! ;-)

I do what Bill suggested and it has worked fine.

Adam, good to see you back!

I will try again, but it hasn't worked for me. But, if it works for David and Bill...it must be I.
