We have Amazing Charts running under Fedora Core 6, and it so far looks pretty solid. Anyone interested in support under Linux?

After having Suse 9 and 10, fedora forgot version, I just could not install Amazing charts.

What is the secret recipe?
Can linux run on same network as windows xp peer to peer?
Can you post some details?

We had to do a goodly bunch of massaging. The latest versions of Amazing Charts have a number of problems under linux. The installer itself won't run - as the first thing it does is unpack the installer for the USB security dongle for the EKG stuff. If you use the EKG stuff, you're going to need at least one windows machine for it.

We started out with Codeweaver's Crossover product. We brought the Amazing Charts.exe file over, then manually brought over and registered the dll files it relies on. The database engine has to be the right version, or the program will come up and complain about the database tuner - when really it's just unable to read the database. The calender widget dll has to be the right version too, as othewise you get calenders with no numbers on them.

All of the dll's that Jon uses in development have to be brought over manually as well. Took HOURS - but we got it to behave. So far it's pretty solid, too.

When we're out of Beta and go to release, I'll roll up a Linux installable package - most likely a .rpm package, as I use Fedora and Mandriva here.

If you're interested in Linux support for Amazing Charts, be sure also to let Jon know, so he can decide about whether he wants an "official" release, or just the program repackaged by the users for our own use.


Oh - and YES, it runs on the same network as Windows XP. All of our servers are running Linux, and all the desktops in the building except mine are running Windows XP. We have both shared printers and network enabled printers, all of which work seamlessly under Linux.
