Jon has more power in SQL express-

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345149.aspx

SO WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Express your wishes:

From old thread:

1. Need to fix the treatment plan field so we can document more easily rather than cutting and pasting. Need to be organized for patients with multiple conditions.

2. Add logo on the top of the all notes.

3. Make old visits to occupy more of screen with less space wasted on right 1/3

4. Tab for all previous orders. "able to retrieve and reprint orders"

5. Update the chart re: past medical history, allergies without having to creat an encounter as it is not an encounter.

6. We know Jon is working on PMS.

7......... What else?

Allow me to customize the prescription writer to meet state requirements. The present format does not comply with Florida prescriptions, as I've mentioned in a prior "wish" post.

Would be nice to have the ability to have a paperclip icon for that progress note- clip the relevant labs, xrays- that were discussed- as mentioned in another area----

--------------------------
These two things seem useful to you docs.

I would like to add that it would be nice if closing a chart prompted to save a draft. Thus avoiding 'lost' notes that sometimes happen when people are starting with AC.

Allergies should update to current when pulling up the script writer.

I would like custom shared inboxes . e.g. Providers, MA's, office. I haven't worked out the details of what this would be like.

I would like to save orders myself rather than sending them to the provider to save to chart, but still documenting which provider made the order. Thus documenting that patient actually recieved the correct forms at the front desk, and possibly who gave the forms.

Related to the last item, I would like to be able to specify the addresses from the rolodex using the orders window. This way we can just print out a sheet for pt's who may be going to three different places and the lab.

I might be missing something with my reqest, so please correct me if I am. I will add more if I think of anything.

Joseph, if you get more responses would you consider organizing them by most useful and most needed?

ryanjo: The fastest way to get this might be to give the requirements directly to the developers. I did that for the Immunization registry in Texas. I'm hoping that it gets into the next minor update.

We really need a way to "track" patients in the office. Some type of easy system to show patient arrived, patient is in room, patient is ready to be seen, patient visit is complete and is waitingfor "whatever."

Ability to change printers on the fly without exiting AC. I'd like to be able to print prescriptions in the exam room but send lab orders to the lab printer. I can't do that now, because the only option is "default printer" within the visit.

I have to say I don't follow. Unless I am not understanding you, one can print to any printer from within a patient chart when printing ANY document including scripts or lab orders.

The ability to save a note without signing it is critical. I was losing so many notes by forwarding them to the front desk for addition of referral/test info that I had to stop. I would also like to have the ability to search consultants by specialty si I can say, for example, "refer to Ortho of choice" and the front desk can pull up all the orthos and let the patient select.

There must be something wrong with my setup. Initially I was asked to select a printer when I set up each work station. After that the only option available for printing while during the recording of a visit is to click a button that says "print to default printer". I can go back after finalizing a note and print anything I want to any printer, but not before the note has been finalized. Of course, I need to send lab orders before finalizing the note, 'cause I won't sign off until I see the results. All my work stations have windows XP Pro. Any ideas for fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Kathleen,

Instead of choosing "Print to default printer" choose "preview" and you may then select your printer of choice.

Kathleen,

As Leslie says, you should be able to select "Print to default printer" at any point in AC in any window. This is regardless of whether you are using XP, 2000, 98 or Vista. It is completely within AC. The reason I am confused is in most windows it is fairly evident that there are two buttons to choose from. For example, in the lab window, you should see on the far right:

Save (without printing)
Print Preview
Print to Default Printer

If you choose the latter, it will print to whichever print driver you have selected as your default print driver on XP which has nothing to do with AC. Anything you print will print to that printer unless you change the print driver say in Word or whatever application.

Choosing Print Preview will show the lab document with a printer icon at the top left. Clicking on that will bring up the standard WINDOWS window for your printer where you can choose whatever print driver you want.

There should be nothing wrong with your setup. In fact, I doubt I could find a way to set it up so I couldn't print as Leslie suggests. If you continue to have problems, I would be happy to remote in to your computer and take a look.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it works exactly as you say. The problem was my tunnel vision - I just never thought to use "print preview", so I never saw the option to choose a different printer.

V4 alpha is working fine. It is faster (read: greased lightning ) than old v 3.7.

More wishes.

9. We need: Pharmacy name to go on script

10. Ability to send email from within chart. So we do not have to go to main screen and pull up the name again when we are in room with patient.

We also need the ability to send email without attaching it to a patient's chart, such as "Ann, please call the hospital in the morning and ask them to stop putting lab hardcopies in my box"

That's interesting. I have no problems with Access and SQL, but am having a bit of a problem with SQL Express working next to SQL Server 2005 which is native on SBS.

Bert, yes I meant the messages in AC and yes, call me stupid.....I just figured out how to do it without attaching a patient to a message.

Well,I would never call you stupid. You can do them by themselves, but we actually made a patient called Random Notes. It's an extra step, but it allows one to save the message to the patient, "Random Notes" thereby having a record to go back to.

Bert:

We have 8 computers (staff, biller, nurse, my office, a fax receiving computer) which are commonly used. We have about 6 more in exam rooms which we do not use to log into AC, as we use VNC and bring up the screen in our office/nurse station to cut down the login time.

Bert,

Excellent idea. I shall make a dummy patient to whom we can save our random emails.

We are running 11 computers (9 laptops/2pcs) on version 4 beta. We also have 2 more laptops and another pc at home that we remote from using v4. I agree-it is a lot more stable.

I loaded V4 yesterday onto my server then made a major mistake---tried to migrate it from the C drive to the D drive, that produced errors and foolish me! ignored them. Short story being that I got V4 to work but none of my imported items are found--it keeps asking for me to run the import utility from the administrator panel(????) which, if I read correctly, states it will erase the missing imported items. This I have not done.

While I wait for the cyberangels to my AC working, any suggestions?

Francisco,

I only migrated it once, and I followed the prompts, and it turned out OK. I know there will be some issues as people try to move things around. If you have your complete backup, i.e. the folder you started with, just keep it save, uninstall V4, put your backup (copy it so you still have the backup) on D: drive and then run it from there.

Hi Bert & Wayne,

Thanks for the guide. I have loaded ACv4.0. Working great. Anyone has the problem installing the security update. Both of my Server 2003 and XP cannot take the update "Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (KB948109)" which ws downloaded automatically after installing the SQL Express 2005.
