I would like to get in touch with someone who uses New Crop. I am using the free eprescribing thru NEPSI/Surescripts. It ends up being double entry.

Does using New Crop actually let your use the Sure Scripts eprescribing right from AC?

Does it change the way the prescription writer in AC looks and functions? I have been concerned about maintaining my lists there because I haven't found a way to keep them from being altered.

I understand eprescribing will be a part of version 4.0, but I'm getting impatient and frustrated with double entry. Almost enough to pay for it. Any feedback from users would be appreciated. vr

We have paid for surescripts and abandoned it as too cumbersome. You do have double entry and the fields are so counterintuitive as to be useless for someone at my humble levels.

Docmartin,

Have you switch to Allscripts the free eRx? How do you like it?

We are using Iscribe ( www.iscribe.com ) x 6 weeks already. We got sponsored for 3 years.
It includes a Palm TX, wireless router, 2 printers, one for each doc, installation, training, and 1000 sheets of prescription paper for each doc. Also, they built an interface to get our demographic info from Ac. It gets updated every week.
You only need High speed internet service which we already had.
I have still to find out wether or not they will continue providing the paper, if not it will cost about 8 cents per prescription. Yet, I use it minimally.

The palm software is very easy to easy use, You can write your prescription in a blink and send it (them) to the pharmacy very easily, it wil allert you formalary coverage and drug to drug interactions. You can not send controlled substances just yet, you have to print them or write them in your regular script.

From any PC with Internet access, you can login to their secure server and go into your account. Then you, can check for your renewal requests, which most pharmacies can do and approve any of those refills with one click. I have set up a login for our Office manager who handles this requets as we have trained her to do so.

Overall,so far so good, it does represents double entry, but this is what we were doing any how on writing (without formulary check or drug to drug interaction alerts)

We still fax prescriptions to many pharmacies and will continue to do so. We have a qouta of at least 65 prescriptions / renewals per month to continue our free service. Everytime you syncronize your palm, it tells you how many prescriptions you have written, last month my count was around 700.

After the 3 years, the service will be around 450 / year. Hopefully, we will find another sponsor.

IMHO, it is worth it if you can find sponsor until we have a stream line service linked to our AC.
