I need some help with a code. I miss Donna, our previous resident coding expert. I have lost (don't ask) the code for a Rocephin 1 gm injection. Any other information (wink, wink $$$)
about that code would also be appreciated.

J0696 per 250mg of rocephin injected
Medicare allows 1.48 for my region in my state
Don't forget to charge the 90772 injection fee $17.80 in my neck of the woods.

Be careful a 90772 will cause the visit not to be paid in nm anyway

Why don't you all do what I do- Google "CPT and Rocephin 1gm"? I do that all the time using my T1 line and get instantaneous responses. For this particular search, from the fist 2 set of hits:

URL- http://medicalnewswire.com/artman/publish/article_7388.shtml
This explains the situation fully, as it has stood since 2006. If you do a separate E/M code plus the administration, you need to use the "-25" modifier.

URL- http://www.pcc.com/lists/pedtalk.archive/0007/00376.html
ditto on the information

URL- http://www.moasc.org/Sample%20Fee%20Ticket%20Type%201%20V3.pdf
Cool "superbill" with all the adminstration codes that anyone could ever hope to use!

Another blog where folks talk about "Help with J0696 (Ceftriaxone)"

URL- http://www.floridamedicare.com/Part_A/Medicare_A_Bulletins/Archive/107284.pdf
HCFA bulletin on using the -25 modifier.

By the way you can save a lot of money if you buy your injectables like ceftriaxone at Florida Infusion! Here's a sample their recent 2008 prices:

--> ceftriaxone 1gm vials x 10 ... $60
--> testosterone cypionate 200mg/ml 10ml vial ... $95
--> pneumovax 5 dose vial ... $143
--> tetanus toxoid, 15 dose vial ... $213

Thanks, Al. I did Google it and came up without much luck. I'll look at these sites.
Also, look at www.mohawkmedical.com. Better prices there on the ceftriaxone at least.

The testosterone price is real high. I pay about $55 for the same at an independent pharmacy here in my building. Henry Schein surprisingly has real good prices on a lot of the injectables (esp. Rocephin and Td). Pneumaovax price is almost identical to what I get from Merck (although I get 90 days to pay Merck).

I use Henry Schein a lot too...via ESURGE.com. Some prices are better, some are not.
I buy all of my generics that I sell in the office from Mohawk Medical.

Check out Andameds.com. Very good pricing, free next day delivery if >$100.

Bill,

I looked at Andameds when I was first investigating selling generics out of the office. I registered and it took them over 3 weeks to get back with me. By that time I was unwilling to proceed with the registration or to buy from them. There it is again...that Aggressive streak. Shame on me.
