When I'm looking at newly imported labs (at least w/ labcorp), that's the only tab available--ie. can't look at past notes or demographics without reopening a patient's folder. With other imported items (ie. scanned items), this is not a problem.

Same problem here. This has added quite a bit of time to reviewing labs. It does get faster as you get more labs into the new system and you can then compare previous labs within that window. But, it would be nice to look at the chart while reviewing the labs so you can sign off intelligently on the labs(in case you don't remember if that pt is already on something for their cholesterol or what their dose of synthroid is).

I have talked to Jon and he says that the lab interfaces need more work - in the PAML you cannot look at both a CBC, BMP, TSH, etc all at the same time - each is separate. He knows about the issues and is hoping to refine the labs. I do think everyone should use the suggest improvement button to tell him what problems you are having and suggestions. He told me he hoped to work on the labs more by the first of next year.

It would be helpful to look at the rest of the chart while reviewing labs. I do love my Labcorp interface nonetheless. I just review, write down my recommendations and either create a letter or have my nurse call. vr
