We are a specialty clinic and would like to analyze referral patterns. Re: which referring docs are sending us what type of payor mix, kids vs. adults, etc. Any suggestions?

In the demographics pane of each patient chart there is a spot to enter referring physician and of course, there is a place there for entering insurance information. My question is how to harvest that data out in the form of a report for the purpose of analysis.

Have you tried an "advanced search and entered a few of the qualifiers that you are talking about???

Don't forget that you can use the free text search as a work around. For example, search by the Dr's name or by the insurance name, (can we all spell medi-cade?) lol

I guess I need to learn how to perform some of the search functions you describe above.

I tried the search functions. I can search for the referring provider by using the free text search in the demographics section and I can search for insurance but how do I do BOTH? There isn't a method to search for referring provider in the advanced search options.
