I will be working at home next week and have yet to figure out how to print from AC when I am in by a microsoft vpn. If any one knows, I would be really grateful. Thanks.

Vicki, if you should be able to map the printer to your computer via the IP address or the computer it's on.

Vickie, We had a longgggggg discussion here about things like Log me In and other remote work things. Bert is now ready to kill me because I kept on insisting on a more high tech way of doing things and it took nearly forever for us to try it. And now that we have we love it...
These guys have a free and a paid version. Are you looking to print back at the office you are accessing or looking to print from the remote site that you are log in from? I asked because on the free version we can print back to our office and pick up the papers or Rx's when we return in the morning. But if you care to print from where you are and are accessing remotely then you will need the paid version (not too expensive but I have not checked prices lately, free is good enough for us most days) to do that. Also with the paid version you can copy files across the connection which some folks might find useful too I guess.
But it is a good product that is very solid, quiet and reliable and we have quickly learned to love it. This could honestly be all you need according to what you are trying to accomplish....

Vicki,
There are a few solutions to this. First, though, if you could be more specific as to what type of VPN you are using? What do you mean by a Microsoft VPN? What type of hardware are you using for your VPN? Is this a remote access VPN or a site to site VPN? What client software are you using, etc.?

Hi Bert, We're using Remote Desktop Connection in Windows XP to log into our server at work. We are running Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. I usually can print to a network printer and pick things up later. I cannot print to a printer here in my house when I am connected remotely.
gkfahnbulleh, Not sure what you mean by mapping the printer via my ip address. I know how to map a drive on my server, but do not know how to map my local printer to the server at work.

It's actually easy with Windows XP using Remote Desktop Connection. There is a local resources tab on the remote desktop connection. I just right clicked and clicked printer and it worked first time around.

Yeah Vicki! Glad it worked out for you. For my benefit since I use RDC as well, were you successful in printing on the host computer or the remote computer.

That is good to know. Maybe now I can stop using our carrier pigeon. She was excelent at flying to the office and clicking on print, but boy what a job cleaning up after her.
