We are converting our main office to AC this early fall, currently using it at our satellite office and VERY happy with it.

We have been using EHSMed, a practice management software for the main office BUT only using their billing, coding, insurance practice management functions and not their EHR which is too cumbersome for a busy FP office like ours.

It will cost us $5K for X-link to build a bridging program so the two can communicate (custom work). They already have code developed for several programs and that would only cost $1.1K for a bridge.

AC's billing module is not robust enough for our practice.

What are other people with busy practices using and bridging to AC?

Any and all suggestions really appreciated. I am in data collection mode.

James,

I am a solo practitioner so $5000 to me may as well be $100,000. For that kind of money for a link, whose only real purpose would be to eliminate double entry, I would continue to do double entry. I currently use a PM program (other than AC) and simply put the patient info in each one (you only really have to do it once so I don't think it is that big of a deal). I do still use a printed superbill which I fill out by hand at the end of the encounter. This then goes to the billing dept for entry into the PM program. If they have questions about the ICD-9 codes they can easily pull up AC and check my Assessment.
This is working ok for me and, unless AC comes up with a better PM program, this is what I will continue to do.

We have been using EZclaim successfully for three years. The program exports data which quickly imports straight to AC with ease and it's not the fanciest interface but it meets out needs with little fuss. Double entry is a waste of staff time and effort and a drain on the payroll. There is no need to spend a fortune! Check out EZClaim.
