My question there is what if I needed a new mother board or bios, where ever they are hiding it???
That is the rub of product activation. Usually you can talk the microsoft activation rep of out india into resetting the key.
I would still make copies of your disk, that is cheap and easy to do.
You should be able to install off an "Anytime upgrade" vista install disk with your product key. I am not sure if an SP1
disk would still work.
