In their defense it was a complicated install I couldn't have done it myself. Need to manually download and install SQL 2016 express, enable .net 3.5., install msmxl file and crystal report. Then needed to do some massaging to the 11.1.4 installer and run it a few times. But, if they made a better installer probably would make this self-service?

The credentialing part was technical and a bit complex but that requirement was created by themselves.

Lessons, install on a VM. Back it up. Keep it clean - just AC no domain controller other software. So it is pristine and lasts a long time.

Use 2019 not older version of server so your AC VM server will last a long time. You or your computer person can move a VM without credentialing.

1. A business policy that should make them go under if they follow through with it -- haven't dealt with that so hard to know
2. The whole idea of their doing it is the credentialing HAS to be done by them, and it isn't hard for them
3. Not sure why you wouldn't need/want a domain controller
4. We were going to use 2019 and it worked, but we went back to 2016 because 2019 wasn't TECHNICALLY supported.
5. A VM should be considered its own computer so no new credentialing, but it is moving to another computer so who knows given it has to use that computer's hardware. Should work though.

You can mark my words on this one. If I were forced to go to another computer and needed credentialing and it were going to be $500, I would move to another EMR. $100 maybe. $500 that is crazy.
