I can't say whether the Pro version of Windows is really required but FYI, you can upgrade for $99 through the Windows store or use older (windows 7/8) Pro keys to upgrade for free. link

@Mark, is there any confirmation about this from AC? I was under the impression that AC just needed to update the installer with Midmark's latest SDKs, and this would be covered by our annual Support fee.
