Is the provider putting a value in the "Course" field when writing a script? This is usually what is happening when I hear this type of scenario. The course field is designed to be used for medications that a person takes for a limited time and finishes, like prednisone. What that field does is automatically inactivate the medication after the number of days that the provider puts in that field. It is not designed to be used for medications that are meant to be refillable.
