It could also be a browser hijacker. This would be a virus. Several ways to test this.
First, make a different browser such as Firefox your default browser, then click on the link. See where it goes. If it goes to the right site, then you likely have your answer.
I would also run MBAM. Google it. It's designed to look for viruses. Of course, you can run a bunch of them. Or run them from sites like McAfee. (Don't install McAfee)! But, they have a good scanner from the web.
Again, a good reason to run it from home. It would seem as though the virus wouldn't be on a different computer.
But, this would be a good place to start in case it is your problem, because you would want to get rid of the virus. Internet Explorer would be the most likely browser to be affected.
