I have a large contingency that will free text any of their prescriptions, so this has cut the phone traffic and voice mail prescription requests to a minimum. But these do include some of the Class II requests.
Works extremely well with any script, my nurse will copy and paste, and send to AC inbox, and then I take care of e-scribe, e-fax, or print to paper.
My nurse will just tell me how many and where to send.
I also have designed a prescription request form so the patient can fill out, click on the form at the Updox portal site. But most patients free text their requests, but if you want to see my forms let me know and I can make you into a fake patient and you can play around with the forms I have made.
Regarding vacation, I have designed the Updox portal site, the first few paragraphs lay out the ground rules and how to retrieve and send messages and forms available. But near the end an area for messages, and I will put when I will be away for vacation.
Also the portal wide broadcast is useful to design a short message such as "Flu shots are available call or message Dawn to have one."
