I don't use II much, but since you said it didn't happen in Windows, I thought I would try browsing to the server, opening an II window, right clicking a pdf and changing it to Always Open In Windows Media Player. It does now open always in Windows Medial Player when I right click and choose Open default application. Left clicking opens in pdf.
