I still get my charts completed before leaving the room. I use a lot of templates and Shortkeys to hasten the task. But, I think a critical issue is that you, the physician, are now having to do a lot more charting and task work than previously. Now we have to print out the orders, address the meds, go through the MU crap, look at all the faxes and refills, etc, ad nauseum. No longer can I just leave the room, walk to the front and tell the staff, refer to so and so, order such and such, give them a B12..... In order to have the note completed by the time the patient leaves (my preference and now also to be able to print out the stupid CCD for them) my note needs to be complete. I either complete it then or have to face an inbox full of crap to sign off. Consequently, I sincerely believe my care of the patient has declined. I am now so overwhelmed with all of this staff work that I forget to do too many really important things. JMO
