I have a suggestion for a wireless setup. This is the wireless setup that I use, and I am currently dictating right on it now.
I use a RadioShack headset microphone, stock number is 33 -- 3012. You should be able to get it for $30.
I use a combination 900 MHz eight channel switchable transmitter and receiver. The transmitter is stock number 32 -- 1252, and the receiver is 32 -- 1250.
You can get both the transmitter and receiver along with a microphone which is handheld, stock number 32 -- 1256, but I don't know if it's any longer available.
If you buy the transmitter, receiver and headset microphone separately, you will spend about $150. I wear the microphone and plug it in to the transmitter, and then then the signal is transmitted wirelessly from the transmitter to the receiver; the receiver is plugged directly into the microphone input on the sound card in my workstation.
There is also an FM wireless system, however I am in an area where there is a significant amount of electromagnetic radiation, due to a nearby mountain with multiple antennas on it. The FM system does not work in my office, so I tried the 900 MHz system, and I've not had any problems. I use the FM system at home and that works fine for me.
Hope that's helpful.
