so are they working remote/on a remote server such that loosing connection looses the note?
If there was a power loss, that speaks to having a UPS (Uninterrupt-able Power Supply) that the server is plugged into to prevent the server dropping power suddenly. If you want the client systems to not drop off at power loss, they need UPSs as well, along with the network switch that connects the office.
If for the server, look for a UPS that has connection that signals the server to shut-down upon power loss, so that the server shuts down gracefully.
