maybe not a solution ... however I was initially scanning at too high a resolution and produced huge files - was able to reduce the file size by simply selecting a lower resolution.
would be even lower if I could select black and white but apparently AC prevents this - at least I cant figure it out - there was a prior discussion.
in any event, even with large files, my wait is occasionally a few seconds (except in the am at first log on ??- takes a long time to print a PDF but the rest of the day is fine) - My import file is at 50gigs and growing - includes prior charts.
