What is happening is that we are getting to the forum on one URL, but it's actually set up on another.
So, we log in on
http://www.amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.phpBUT....the forums are set to run on:
http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php (there is no www)
So when the user tries to log in it actually redirects to the proper URL, but the cookie won't be carried over because it's considered a different domain!
NOW...watch very carefully when you first open the userboards from Amazing Charts. The URL you will actually see once you are redirected will be:
http://www.amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.phpClick on Log In. The above URL will become:
http://www.amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php?ubb=loginNow, type in your username and password and click login or hit enter. You will now see the URL change to:
http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrmTHEREIN LIES THE ANSWER. It is no longer
http://www, it is now
http://amazingcharts.com........You will NOT be logged in. Click on Log In again and type in your username and password.
Now you will be logged in. BECAUSE...the site that these boards is actually on is:
http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.phpI would recommend making a shortcut to the above. There are three ways to do this:
1. Click on the above URL and then save it as a favorite
2. Right-click on the desktop, choose new and shortcut, then copy and paste the above in the first box, then click next and type a name such as AC Boards
3. Click on the above link to open it, then right-click anywhere in the window that is not used (white area) and choose Create Shortcut and then yes at the prompt.
The latter two options will put a white and blue star icon with a "u" in the middle on your desktop.
Clicking on this icon OR the one in your favorites will open the boards to the correct location. You will notice that it is
http://amazing.... rather than
http://www.amaz.....This will allow you to log in only once. But, after you put in your username and password, select the "Remember Me On Each Visit" check box, and you can log in without ever entering a username and password from now on UNLESS you choose to log out, which you should never do. Even if you reboot, the cookie will remember you and you will NOT need to log in again.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions or if there are any problems.
