I just did the following:
Scanned in as bmp format.
Opened with Paint - made a box around the signature only.
Right clicked on the box and copy to desktop.
Then opened just that on desktop and used box, right click.
Used the sizing feature (50%, 75%, etc) and saved to desktop again.
Under Admin imported sig - didn't fit and did again.
Actually only took 2 or 3 attempts to make one fit.
Whole process less than 10 minutes (started to make signature by taking out AC scrip and signing it (used that as starting size in scan).
