hi all...
occasionally, one of our providers/staff accidentally sets up an new chart for an existing patient, and then writes a note, signs off, etc on the new chart. is there a way to merge the notes and info from the charts together?

thanks,
dk

I have wondered the same thing myself but not found a magical way to do it. We just recently decided to add a "D" to the end of the patients last name on the duplicate file just to make it clear it is not the correct one. Yes you can inactivate charts but it doesn't matter when importing labs because that program looks at active and inactive charts (not sure why) which really stinks when you are trying to guess in which Mr Smith chart the lab belongs. Frustrating! In the end we just transfer the info over either by hand/keyboard or print things out and scan them back to the correct chart. There are probably better ways to do it, but I know this works.

i end up catching it early enough so there'd only be like 1 note to redo, and i just rename the copy patient with a totally different name like 'ztest', so it'd stay out of the way. but an easier way would be nice..
