I have a large percentage of notes that put one line -- my signature - on the second page. We are not able to go paperless - not yet. Maybe not too hard to fix?

Elizabeth, I submitted an "improvement" on that, just today, through amazing charts RECOMMEND IMPROVEMENTS under the HELP menu on the menu bar. It seems this latest release (3.1.8) is to blame. i don't recall the "bug" in past releases. Would love to see it fixed. Because when we print notes to send to paper offices we are wasting alot of paper!

Still there - still annoying. Since in our office the paper charts are the actual patient chart (after woring with computers since 1974, I have reason not to want to trust my charts totally to a computer!) and some of them are getting rather thick :-(

We generally print to a pdf file using Adobe 8.0, then delete the extra page from there. The letter is saved to AC in the patient's chart in HTML format, but we still have the pdf which is a much better formatted version if we have to print it again.

No, this has been a problem for quite some time. The reason it does this is fairly complicated - is actually a bug in the part of Microsoft Visual Basic that handles printed reports. It can probably be programmed around, though. I'll ask Jon if its on his "to do" list.

I wonder how Visual Studio NET would work with it. I know a lot of developers don't like it due to its lack of backwards compatability, plus there is obviously a learning curve. My programmer who does our medical software is making the switch -- we'll see.
As to the letters, I find that there are many things which could be done to improve it. The overall formatting leaves a lot to be desired. By default, it breaks a lot of "rules" of letter etiquette such as the inside address should be four lines below the date with the Re and/or salutation then being two lines below the address. I have to change that manually each time. I think the options at the bottom would make more sense to be off by default so just the letter prints and if one wished to print the note with it, they could add that. Once the note is set for preview to be printed, there is no way to adjust the letter to be centered in the page.
It would be nice if it saved in PDF rather than HTML or used Word as its editor, but those are probably proprietary things.

Hmm.. I'd be happy if the extra page of just signature would go away - we still keep paper charts. I may add this to my own "to do" list once the projects I'm working on are finished up.

I would take my preferences and print two extra pages. But, I guess we all have our priorities. Plus we don't use paper. But, I am talking strictly with the letter writer. If you could format after it was previewed you could use things like the View/Hide button to eliminate the extra page. I can't remember how long I used to print extra pages in Word until I realized I could click on the little Hide/Show button (no other name for it) and see about five of those little things crossing over to the next page. Deleting them got ride of the second page. When I or I am sure many people type a letter of more than one page, I always move things up or down or even add a sentence or delete one to make the letter format nicely. I would never send a letter with Regards, on one sheet and my signature line on the next.
