We currently have what is a memo appointment that puts a block on the schedule to give some space for acute or same day patients (which is only removed or cancelled on that current day). Short of making a dummy patient called "hold" how can I do this similar thing in Amazing Charts?

Jon demonstrated a way to block out various time slots at the user's conference. I tried it once and it seemed to work. It was to block out times for meetings, golf, raquetball etc. It might work for what you are trying to do...or it might not.
I tried to replicate the process and it didn't work like I saw it demo'd. Start by selecting a provider. When the schedule window shows up, double click on the providers name and this opens a new page with time, name, visit type, minutes, phone, comment and booked by. By placing the cursor on the open small boxes, left of the time column, you should be able to highlite the corresponding row and then drag the cursoe(aeeow) down to the desired spot in the schedule.
If this doesn't work it's because I didn't explain it well enough and there is the possibility thatit doesn't even apply to what you are asking.
This was demonstrated on sunday morning when info overload was at it's max. Jon did this maneuver, and everyone just looked on in amazement. Most od us didn't know you could do what he did.
Maybe brian, or one of the other big hitters could confirm or correct me on this.

Sorry, touch typing in the dark.

Drag the cursor, while holding down the control key, to the desired time in the schedule. now I know the reason for previewing posts!

We now have every Wendesday morning blocked for about two years out. This is our paperwork slot and it allows Nancy the time she needs to go downtown every week to go do her little lunchtime news medical spot on the local NBC affiliate here in town. Matter of fact it just ran out and we had to redo it the other day. But we leave it blocked as opposed just not part of office hours so we can pop a patient in now and again. Use the morning to see patients on a week with lots of holiday stuff getting in the way of other days.

Go into the Admin section and then the schedule tab. Drop down the doc, provider you want to block and I know it will allow you to do a recurring block that you can set the dates for how long and the like.

How long has the blocking on the schedule been there??? That is great compared to having a pt. with name "day off" and fiddling with things like that. Experimented with that and love it, although I could only get it to let me do a check mark for each 15 min mark -- can you drag it? Would be great if you could hit block and then type in length so you could easily block 4 hours, 2 hours, etc. But it is great.

No you've got to block each slot one at a time, unless you want to block a day off, like CME and going to Branson might we say. You may have noticed the block the whole day button. We use these all the time. Very neat little feature for sure. Glad you like it.

Yeah, I know about that feature, however, it can only be removed by going into the administration and unblocking it. I am looking more for something that can be removed or cancelled by my reception staff without having access to administration. So I don't think in my situation that is a viable work around =(

You can still schedule in those slots though. So they are both held and blocked might we say, but you and your staff can still put someone in there if you want to. Sort of best of both worlds to me... But to each his own.

I hadn't thought of the ability to schedule over the blocked spot. Hmm. I'm gonna have to ponder that one for a bit and see how it would flow for us. Good thought on it!

You go the the schedule and click on the provider's name. When you click on a time the button in the upper right hand corner changes from (I think) all doctors to BLOCK.

You then use the shift and select a time frame, say 0900 to 1200 and click the 1200 slot they will all be highlighted. Then click block and it will ask you why and voila they will all be blocked.

It blew away everyone at the ACUC when Jon showed this.

Also if you Right Click on the providers name (I think on the main screen) you can create a yellow message at the top of the day (such as "meeting afterwords , need to leave on time") and it will pop up for the day.

My staff loved it when I showed them these two features.

These are not yet documented in the help section.

Oh, I thought I had a pretty good knowledge of Windows, but I never knew that (window button) + L locks the screen.

I bet I'm not the only one.

Let's say we were closed for any extra day or so, and so we were noticing things were getting kind of busy stuffing 5 lbs of trash into the 3 lbs bag might we say, we used our blocked areas as an overflow. I message Nancy and ask her if she is OK with the idea and if she agrees I cc Shel on it so we both know we can use the extra space as said overflow.

Better than trying to do the large factory practice double book in our opinion...
