Good tip from the Conference:

If you change somebody's name in AC, and you want a way to find the patient by their old name via the Patient Search on the main page, just create an empty chart using the patient's old name, with a yellow pop-up which reads:

"NAME CHANGE: Jane Doe got married and she is now Jane Smith."

(or even John Doe is now Jane Smith). whistle

Sounds like a good tip! :-) Just to be clear, all of the data stays in the original chart, you change the name of the OLD chart to the new name and create a NEW CHART with the old name and set the pop up to direct you to the new name and old chart number.

Exactly. And, that is a great method. Would just add to your patient numbers even if they were inactivated which, of course, they would be.

Marty:

That was your tip, wasn't it?

It just popped into my head -- I thought it was a brilliant workaround, and I wanted to get it out there before it got lost.

Marty presented a lot of practical tips at the conference.
