Now using the current update 3.7.15 and although I like a lot of the new features, there are a few things that have changed.
After upgrading the previous Friday afternoon, I was surprised on Monday morning to find I needed a special code to unlock the prescription writing module. Unfortunately it took about half an hour to get the code. Not an unreasonable amount of time, but seems like eternity when you have patients in the rooms to see. This new requirement should have been handled better. Either warning that a new code would be needed during the upgrade or even better pro-actively verifying DEA numbers and sending the unlock codes to the registered users.
The other issues are minor but annoying.
In the schedule if you click on 4 weeks, rather than the advertised 4 weeks it moves you ahead a month. Not a good idea. If you are seeing the patient on a Thursday and want to schedule another appointment, if you push 4 weeks it is likely to take you to a weekend day to schedule.
The other issue is previously if I selected text in a text field and then pasted in new info or text from a template, the old selected text was replaced. Now it is not replaced and the new text is added to the old text. That is not the way things should work.
If I wanted to add the text, I would not have selected the old text in the first place. Now I have to select the text and delete or hit a space and then paste the new text. Minor but annoying.

Didn't cause me a problem but I agree that should have been done.

I found the registration code issue slightly annoying too.
Plus it required a reboot of the program in order to "take."
I was in the middle of patient visits. It may have been written somewhere if I bothered reading much about the update.

That other issue about the text, I have same issue. It is very annoying. Slows me down a little.

Still a great program though.

And that is why I don't take major updates until the last patient is out the door and frequently not until the girls are all done for the day. I'll let them know I'm taking over at like 5 pm after last patient but before AC tech has gone home for the night, Just in case....

By the way could someone explain to me this whole DEA number login thing? Is mandated on us and Jon by some federal law to keep complete hackers and drug addicts from activating a copy of some EMR and writing Rx's to their hearts content? What is the purpose and what is the procedure? I gather we should call ahead and get this activation code from AC tech support? Fun when I spoke to the girls a few weeks ago when we had all the security issues and the topic of taking the new version, they never mentioned my needing nor did they offer our right to give us our activation code.

Funny how a PM thought of taking good care of the doc and their patients, but for some reason all you docs here didn't.... OK I can feel the knives and laser eyes burning at my back... whistle

Paul, I always do updates after hours. This activation code thing only occurs when you get into the prescription writer. Since I didn't know about it, I had no reason to open the prescription writer. Hence I only opened it when I had to write the first prescription of the day, when I was in the room w/ a patient. This is why I found it annoying. I just wish it had been made a little more clear.

That being said, I think it was a good idea. Otherwise, any druggie could download AC and start writing their own Rx's.

You only need to do it once when you first upgrade. There is a message saying that someone was generating fake AC Rxs, so this is Jon's way of re-affirming everyone is legit.

Yes Wayne, you are correct.
However we had to do it on EVERY client computer, since each client is running AC and communicating to the server.

You had to do it on every client computer. That is weird. We didn't. Better make sure you ARE connected to the server, lol. smile

I thought something warned me of it before I downloaded the version which needed it. I still think you shouldn't be able to just download AC without any verification you are a healthcare provider.

Agreed, it's good to verify. Otherwise any psycho could just write their own Rx's.

Agreed. Shame we have to act as the world's defacto cops. But such a tool just out there for the general public to grab, it certainly is a valid and important thing to do. And in doing so it helps to keep our valid ones all that much more valid...

So now that we all know better, for those of us who have yet to take the download, I gather we can call ahead and get our Rx activation code so we can just do this easily without down time?

Thanks for the heads up... Any other interesting comments and changes those of you who have updates care to share? Oh, for those of us who are coming out of the last version (3.6.25) will we need to "tune" our databases or are we good to go???

No actually in spite of the labels post I wrote this anyway. Don't worry Bertie (I bet you're gonna love me for that one, yaa???) we wove you soooo much!

(Once again Paul is really glad that he and Bert are separated by at least 400 miles) What day and time is your flight to Branson expected to be flying directly over CNY??? I have a unexpected engagement out of town to go to... "Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's plane, it's frog!" "A frog???" "Not bird or plane nor even frog, just little old me, UnderDog...."

You know, I was looking at some of those old cartoons on Youtoub and they are still funny as sin.
