I had a little free time today and so I downloaded the UPDOX 30 day trial version with the AC interface. I played around with it and was just about to give it high accolades when suddenly the document I was working with disappeared from the workplace. I closed out and rebooted and after the third time of this happening, the program now will not open for me at all. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing the program but, because not all the files are actually uninstalled, I keep getting a message telling me the program is already on my computer. (I even tried manually deleting all updox files but to these I was denied access) And, it still won't open. The annoying little icon remains however in the start-up tray of the toolbar. Anybody have any similar problems or ideas?

I hate programs like that.

Leslie, Are you talking about UpDox or Amazing Charts that you can't uninstall? I am thinking you are saying UpDox? Sometimes, once the uninstall file is uninstalled, it can be difficult to get rid of a program unless they have a set of instructions to delete the registry keys. Try going to this site and download the trial version of "Your Uninstaller 2008." I always use it to uninstall any program. It's probably your best "easy" fix. http://www.ursoftware.com/download.php

Thanks, Bert. I'll try this. And, I guess it serves me right for trying UPDOX before I tried FAP Leslie

Exactly. It is pretty cool to watch Your Uninstaller uninstall the program and then ask you if you want to uninstall the left behind registry keys, and then it uninstalls like 500 of them in five seconds. Hey, I coud write a book called "Left Behind." I could even do a series. What's that? It's already been done. Oh well.

Bert, I am taking the long Holiday weekend off but when I get back next week, I'll download that and then get back with you on FAP. Heading out to give the donkeys some carrots! Have a good holiday everyone.

Leslie, I thought you were so in love with your Brother AIO's that sticking with them possibly combined with FAP was a done deal??? What happened, had a moment of loss of faith? Now with all the issues I had with Trend Micro and setting up our new tower I have been ingnoring FAP myself. But I actually got back on it last night as Bert knows. I still think with a few tweaks, this could be a really great product, especially the more it ties in and works with AC. I sent Bert my first really long email of suggestions and issues as one of his first beta's late last night (this morning actually). And really they are tweaks and tighten up things, not real bugs. Now Bert, I still couldn't find what was so offensive about the term FAP when I googled it, even ask.com'ed it too. Care to share??? Will we all get a good laugh out of it??? Have a Great Holiday one and All, Paul and Nancy

Paul, Yes, I do love my Brother (both human and electronic). But, I thought I would at least look at some of the other things out there. The Onebox/Updox caught my eye and it was a "free trial". Although the UPDOX did have some neat features (such as the AC interface) in hindsight I am not sure it is any better than the Paperport. I plan to try out Bert's FAP next week.

I like Bert's File Assistant Pro. I don't use it though. His programmer has a "potato" in his belly. You guys should ask Bert to comment in the "potato" that this guy has on his belly x-rays. (sorry, that abdominal x-rays, just a little inside joke between Bert, his former partner, and I).
Now you could call his program F.A.P., each syllabol sounded out separately. But I like to call it FAP (pronounced like cap, or map, or tap). I think this annoys Bert, because he always calls it F.A.P.

So again I tried to google FAP as Bert said because he felt that perhaps he needed another name. Seems that he googled it and found out it means something weird or perverted or something. But when I did I didn't get a thing that was out of place, matter of fact most of it was fairly dry and boring. Do you have any idea what he is talking about. I don't know like: "Naked @$$'ed People"? "Nice as Pie"????

Paul, it's not the "meaning" of FAP that matters, it's the "sound". Boys will be boys...
