Recently upgraded to 11.4.3. Have all new machines with windows 11. The workstations are freezing i.e hiccuping while writing notes and moving through the interface. AmazingCharts support has not been able to fix this and have escalated the problem to Level 2/3 support.

Any others having this problem?
Ideas on how to fix it?

Thank you.

I was told by techsupport that AC was not tested in Win 11. They made me downgrade my Windows server 2022 (Win 11 similar) to 2019.

That is interesting I just got an email from support about moving AC from a client/server setup to a Windows 11 Pro peer-peer setup and they said should be fine????

There is some question about whether Windows 10 Pro is considered HIPAA compliant. When you read about it, some say it is, some say it is not. But, they pretty much all say, it has to be configured completely correctly. I try to stay up to date on Windows especially since most of the bugs will be worked out.

Not to second guess but going down to 2016 from 2019 is a big step. My IT pro really pushed for 2016 as IT couldn't blame it on 19. I try not to be too critical anymore about AC, but my big thing now is beta testing. Windows server 2019 Standard is fairly up to date, but I think AC should have been beta tested on it. When downloaded, it should be very clear as to what hardware and software is the minimum. And, if 2019 is considered questionable and AC is going to ask you to move it back to 2016, it should explicitly say, NOT SUPPORTED ON 2019, not because it won't work on it but because it hasn't been thoroughly vetted there.

I hope you have super success and 2016 solves the issue. Simply reinstalling it may fix the issue so it will do the same thing. How soon did it start freezing? if it were right away, I would trial it somewhere else especially a VM with 2019, but then you get into all of the licensing and new computer vs one it has already been installed on. You definitely should be able to "play with it" for a few days on another computer or a VM while you are using the version you are on for production. But in a way you are one of the beta testers and can report that you have discovered a bug where it may freeze when used or at least it freezes on Server 2019.

I really hate saying anything that second guesses AC, but with an EMR (not Quickbooks or even Outlook) something that is mission critical, one should be allowed to install the new software on a standalone machine even if they have one license. A trial version maybe with so many days. There has to be a way to test it. And, not only that, to see if all the new bells and whistles are worth it and if the bugs you hated on the previous version are squashed. Having AC constantly freezing is a show stopper for me.

Moving from a client/server setup to a peer-to-peer is crazy. Not bringing up the P2P vs C/S debate, (if you already are on a P2P fine, but to be advised to moved to a P2P makes no sense.

Bert,
Windows is up-to-date on all computers. AC staff installed SQL 2016. I have 4 new computer workstations with Windows 11 pro. It started immediately freezing after the migration to the new server. All workstations freeze.

I was previously running c/s setup with windows 10, SQL 2012 without any issues.

Do you have a recent back up that has the older version on it. If so, you could just restore back to that version and, of course, lose any new data you put on the 11.4.3.

Also, since you are running server 2019, can you spin up two VMs, run your copy of 2016 on one as the app server and either 2016 or 2019 as the DC on the 2nd VM? Of course, you would need a copy of the second Windows Server 2016 or 2019.

That would be a better setup anyway. I believe the problem is with 11.4.3 on the Windows Pro 11 machines, but if you could install a test version of 11.4.3 on the app VM, you could point to that in your "free time" and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, great, AC was right and you are fine. If it doesn't, you can now tell AC that it is on 2016 and still not working.

Of course, some of this depends on whether AC would consider the new VM with 2016 as a "new server" and have to help with the install.

Finally, did you or AC install the new version of AC on 2019?
