Hey Everyone.

We are working on the process for medication administration (formally called "Injections" under the Decision Support button... this would now cover injections, creams, oral.. anything administered at the practice vs prescribed) and want your feedback on the body site list. We have a list to start, but want to make sure we have covered all the typical body sites. Is there anything we should add to the list? What order should we order this list in (head to toe? Alphabetical? some other order?). Here is what we have so far...

Right Eye (OD)
Nasal
Oral
Left Arm
Right Arm
Left Deltoid
Right Deltoid
Left Lower Forearm
Right Lower Forearm
Left Gluteus Medius

We do not give injections, so I will not weigh in on this. Hopefully others will... asking for feedback from users on this type of issue is much appreciated. Let's hope this board becomes a good place to do so.

We give immunizations and for this the list looks good.

I think head to toe would work but if a user preference could be made so that if someone wanted alphabetical, this ability would be appreciated. I also would have it listed as the body part first and then left or right. Example, Eye Left and Eye right, gluteus left UOQ, gluteus right UOQ.

Also could there be a way to do this from the prescribing module? Going to desiciona support seems slower. I usually document the injections as if I am writing a prescription and then just don't send to the pharmacy.

I think this is a great idea and the current list looks good. I agree with the idea to have options per user preference to display the list in either alphabetical order or head to toe. I would also add EAR to the list-- Left Ear (AS), Right Ear (AD), Both Ears (AU). Our practice performs quite a few ear wash procedures which also includes starting patient on medication (if needed). Medication is administered in office which also serves as demonstration/education for the patient. Having this option for documentation would be great!!
