Just had a pt call and state he is getting phone calls from an 844 number claiming to be "Your Healthcare Team" and wanting information. It is a robo call so he is not leaving information for them. I called the number and got a message, "our nurses and pharmacists work with your primary provider". I have no idea who this company is or how they would be getting his phone number. That seems to be the only information they have. A google search shows this is a scam. Several reported that the call even says the pt name and the provider's name. Has anyone else gotten calls from your pts with this type of complaint?

No not yet but with the databases out there; pharmacy providers, hospital systems, hell even AC (with whom I signed the do not share desensitized data form) I am sure there are dark websites with such data available for sale to interested parties.

Scams like this across industries are all too common. Other scams along the same vein:
* We work with your long distance carrier * We work with your insurance company
There have been many high profile hacks in the past few years with Experian being a big one. Others include banks. So, yes, much of the information scammers need to convince someone they are the real deal is out there already.
