Amazing Charts still leads its' advertisements with the phrase An EHR Built By a Physician, For Physicians... That is stating a fact however for those who have been using AC for a long time (my client # is 336) we know it just ain't the same. I was on the vendor floor at Pri-Med talking to Jon literally minutes before he was finalizing the deal to sell AC to Pri-Med and can still remember the mixed feelings I had when he told me of the impending sale. Happy for Jon figuring he made a pretty penny for his work but worried how would the corporate ownership impact the product and my interaction with the company? Pri-Med's run really didn't last long enough for me to get past being somewhere between denial and bargaining but lately it's been anger and depression. Silly to have such feelings about a tool but being such a large part of daily life and knowing the passion/humanity that was part of it years ago and interacting with the tool now well it is just a sorry difference. Can remember having to move to a new server loading AC then the database couple of hours later back up and running now schedule an appointment pay $500 to move the database and another $200 to load SQL 2016 but wait can't do it because not compatible with most updated Windows O.S. Guess acceptance is close but that is probably because retirement is a couple of years away.

We still use v8.3 (we've used AC since v1/beta but I don't know what our client number is) as we really didn't want to have to require assistance with every change in hardware in order to proceed without interruption. Also, in our situation we're better off with the bugs we know rather than the bugs we don't. But we have to use a Windows 7 computer for the server, as AC v8 does not work with Win10 as server (keeps dropping connections). This is okay for the time being, as we have paid for continuing Windows security updates, but if we were not going to retire in a couple of years, we would look for something else. 5 stages of grief, huh? :-)

I'm in stage 4 (depression) moving now towards acceptance. No longer worried about the HIPAA police or anyone else. Trying to figure out how to get my long term patients into a new practice -- when such a thng doesn't exist any more.
Around here every doctor (except a handful of dinosaurs) is an employee of one of the two hospitals, and NP's and PA's are the same as doctors and every patient is the same as every other patient, and the main thing is to get the right codes that will get you paid.
Of course everyone is friendly all the time, because if they aren't they will get canned. And no one actually seems to be happy
