11.1.4 version I am so fed up with AC I may have to change EMR's if they don't fix the prescribing. I get an error message prescribing even non-controls at least once every 15 times. Also I'm on the cloud and they have to "fix it" frequently. This week's fun is the Amazing Reminders isn't working. Tech support is virtually non-existent!

I quit using Amazing Reminders a long time ago because it never worked properly and was calling pt's in the middle of the night!

F..... I just NOW wrote for moxifloxacin eye drops and there was no BOTTLE in the UOM. How am I supposed to know how many milliliters it comes in. I had to look it up in Lexi-Comp. Just stupid. WTH. WTF.

Yeah just lost a couple other UOM's that I use regularly.
Part of the latest upgrade, I guess.

I always deny and use the drop-down "Prescription already addressed by other means"

You have to go to the EPCS system and deny it there.

Yes. Even then it doesn't always work. I tell you no BOXes in the UOM. This is total bullshit. This is NOT AC's fault. It is surescripts. Hell, I spent 5 minutes on conjunctivitis medicine and albuterol. I put dose pack and it wouldn't even take it.
I guess we talked to loudly when we said, tablets, capsules and milliliters. Every f...... thing is milliliters. Hell Epi-Pens will be milliliters is my guess.

losing common units is insane. who made this regulation? give us their email, mail and cellphone and we'll spam them.
so i just enter tablet for everything and write stuff in the comments. this smells like federal government level logic or a way for clearinghouses/ large emr cos to create walls around their business.

Tablets would be much too boring. Go with film, then write something in the pharmacy comments. Actually there is an UNSPECIFIED, so I am thinking of putting that everywhere.
Hey, maybe even put 1 unspecified for everything and enter QS and appropriate UOM please. Let the friggin' pharmacists figure it out. It's their job anyway. At least you won't get a call.
WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK OF THAT IDEA?

For adults, 90%+ rxs are tab or cap and is already coded in the name of the med. Useless for us to have to click on the form.
I agree, gonna put suppository for everything else and write in the comment what we want. How's that for protest!

One of the good things about being the admin is I can go into the control panel and delete ALL of the four letter words that are censored. I am very tempted.

THIS IS CRAZY! Were we not just three days ago joking about using "unspecified" as the UOM for everything and then using the comment section? Was I dreaming? Or a nightmare? Was "unspecified" not in the list? Did enough people use "unspecified" as a protest that SureScripts took it down?

We're getting a eRx failure message that says "-Messages sent using NCPDP schema 10.6 are no longer supported" Is this related to the unit problem??
This was for triamcinolone ointment.
But other eRx's today went through.

They are stating we will need to represcribe them with a valid UOM.
AC SUPPORT:
"National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) removed several units of measurement and we have made the changes to comply with their standards. This isn't something we can change. If you like I can email you a PDF document detailing what was removed and why."
"apologies, the recent changes made to the UOM list were made in response to the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) by the Surescripts team that manages Amazing Charts' scripts; we unfortunately have no say in the matter. We have been advised that the 'unspecified' unit can be select in place of anything that was removed and then further clarification can be added in the sig or pharmacist note. I can give you a copy of the documentation we received, if you'd like.

Sent tech support email response:
I have updated your practice to SCRIPTS2017 and reregistered the providers with SureScripts. You should be all set to prescribe going forward.

Lets go directly after SureScripts.
All I could find was 1 (866) 797-3239
Everyone call them and ask about this UOM issue and are they the ones affecting all this.

So, has anyone figured out how to get past the "Failure Reason: -Messages sent using NCPDP schema 10.6 are no longer supported" to get an ERx to pass muster and get to the pharmacy? Do we just rewrite the Rx and use whatever UOM are available? That seems to be the implication in this thread, but I need to have it spelled out for me in small words and short sentences.

I also got this message from AC support after sending them the screenshot of the error.
Your erx account needed to be updated. I have updated it. You should be able to send scripts now. Please let me know if you are still having issues.

I spoke with Alex at Surescripts this morning (Sept 2). He informed me that they had contracted with AC to translate the 10.6 schema NCPDP to the new standard 10.61 to September 1st, as AC was having difficulty updating to the 10.61 in time. The ball is now in AC's court to update, work something out with Surescripts. Alex did not see any communication from AC yet about the new inability to electronically prescribe. Meanwhile, physicians may have to phone in prescriptions (Yea! sad face emoji). I hope someone from AC will comment in this forum and keep us apprised during this process.
The struggle is real.

Interesting I have not had this error code! Again, this shows a lack of communication from AC about an issue, had people known about this it would have made the AC Tech support job easier and a lot of users less angry.

ALL of my electronic prescriptions are failing -- have failed -- in the last couple of days. It just started to be a problem on Thursday. We are now having to Fax all prescriptions. Reading through this thread it seems that both NewCrop and AC are aware of the problem, but I haven't had any communication from either of them. Are they working on fixing the problem?

Call Us 888-236-1013 | customersupport@newcroprx.com
Ok so here is what you do. Call or email technical support. The first thing they will say is talk to AC. Tell them you have and you are getting nowhere, you pay for their service indirectly, and you would like some help even if it means they call AC.
This is affecting your business. NC is in business to help you. There is too much of us being in the middle.
When you get to version 11.2, AC has to make one change to activate it. Then NC is completely out of the picture, and you eRx and EPCX directly from within the program.

When they upgrade to 11.2, the tech support should automatically re-enroll the providers in EPCS. As a psychiatrist, I bet half my patients are on controls, lots of ADHD stimulants, hypnotics, benzos, even newer orexin antagonists (Belsomra, Dayvigo, Quviviq). It's ridiculous to have to tell them this, wait on tech nonsupport to get back to us.

How EPCS was fixed with 11.2 in the cloud. Turns out when you upgrade, in order to bypass the NewCrop screens you have to go through this sequence. Menu Edit - User preferences-Prescriptions. At the top it asks you to enter an EPCS PIN (can use your old one or new one). THE PROBLEM IS the box is larger than the screen and the Save button is off the screen on my laptop and decent size monitor at work. It even stumped the tech who did it. You either have to grab that dialogue box and move it up high as you can to the top of the screen or what I did was grab my taskbar which I keep at the bottom of my screen and move it to the vertical position on the right. This exposes the Save Changes button hiding down at the bottom right and click it. The tech said he hadn't been trained on it yet!!

For whatever reason, all eRx now goes to the pharmacy -- at least, yesterday it did. We have done nothing, so NewCrop must have fixed it. We don't do EPCS, so I don't know if that has been fixed as well

Here is what I do now: (and I wish I could edit the UOM dropdown)
1. For capsules, I choose capsules 2. For tablets, I choose tablets 3. For liquids/suspensions etc., I select milliliters 4. FOR EVERYTHING ELSE, I SELECT UNSPECIFIED AND WRITE IN THE COMMENT SETION WHAT I WANT:
1. Albuterol inhaler, I put "1 unspecified", then dispense 3, then write 3 MDIs 2. For any cream or gel like HC 2.5%, I write "1 unspecified", then in the comment section I write: Largest tube available per insurance 3. For OCPs, I write "1 unspecified" 1 dose pack (I think they have pack or packet, but I don't use it
They have never called me back. If they do, I will say, what UOM should I use --- like for EpiPens they say "box" I will say yeah that.
There is no reason they can't use AI and put in the correct UOM (that can be edited). NewCrop has some very good AI. If you write Brand or DAW etc., it won't take it -- you have to write BND or BRAD.
