Well, I always thought I missed out on the party. Using 10.1.4. Averaging around 25 to 35 crashes per day. And, of course, when you restart, you get the dreaded message that AC is still running. Well it's obvious that it's not. It crashed. It's actually intolerable.
Most of this revolves around the script writer, which for me, is still the slowest part of the program by far. We do have an IT group coming out Monday to upgrade the server and test all connections. I will post if any of our Gbps connections were actually Mbps connections.

If my AC was crashing 25+ times a day, I would switch to a newer version with the thought that it couldn't get any worse. Of course the AC version is far from the only thing that can cause a crash, but on 11.1.2 I have one crash every day or two.

I can say I definitely have had fewer crashes with version 11 and with version 11.1.4 it is nearly zero. The laptops rarely crash (newer processors, the one with Windows 11 is faster) and only one of the desktops (mine of course) seems to crash once daily. The rest of the desktops seem to be crashing maybe once per week!!!!! The one computer we are using as our "server" rarely crashes usually when the backup has filled up the hard drive.

OK, sorry guys. Typo or something. I am actually on 11.1.4. It didn't used to crash like this. So, like I generally say, it could be something on my end.

Since we installed V 11.1.4, we rarely have a crash. I have run AC on Windows 10 and 11 and stable on both.

WOW Bert, let us know what you find out.
I have recently started having where the program will lock up with printing an order, I have to shut AC down and then restart, this seems to just happen randomly and just started late Friday after I posted. Guess I jinxed myself. I am going to clear the back up and see if that helps.

The whole experience now is brutal. Having to wait 10 seconds to sign off, not sign out (which ironically has always been the most responsive and fastest step in the system. Furthermore, when it does crash, over 50% of the time you get the dreaded, "Amazing Charts is still running," error and have to start over. The bottom line is programs are simply not supposed to crash. One place that I get the most issues is when choosing a diagnosis. It will suddenly say there are too many errors or something about memory, I can't remember. If you click out of it and then type c (then wait) o -- error message (then wait) u (then wait) g....then cough comes up and you softly hit it, you may get through the error. But, you will ultimately have to restart the program. Ironically, that can be happening, but you can still go to orders or scripts and be fine.

Desktop(Windows 10) is more stable: hardly crashes. Laptop started off good after installing V 11.1.4 and initially when upgraded to Windows 11. Recently however the laptop has been crashing randomly, not with anyone particular click or order. Seems to me that it must have started after one of the Windows 11 updates? The laptop does not crash, AC crashes and closes spontaneously and you need to restart and hopefully you don't get the dreaded AC is still running message, even though task manager states it is not.

What's a laptop? lol. No seriously, never had a laptop. But, I don't think it has anything to do with v10 or v11 or laptops or Windows 10 or 11. I think it just has a lot of unhandled exceptions (although it is not saying that), but I think it just crashes for different people for different reasons. If one of my staff's Outlook crashes once in two weeks, I will hear about it. Eight AC crashes, they think it is a good day. Software crashing randomly is a showstopper. I know a user left the board once when I tried to state that complaining or pointing out bugs or improvements was fine but making major statements that would hurt AC's market share, it isn't good. And, now I am doing the same thing. But, AC freezes, and I wait 20 seconds, and then it moves half an inch and I know I can type again. Or it crashes completely. It's just not stable. That's why the next version shouldn't be about new features or small bug squashes but simply finding out where and why the crashes are coming from. AC has one of the best trial periods there is. And, if someone were trialing it, whether on a laptop or 10 or 11 or in their basement and it crashed once a day for a week, they wouldn't purchase it.

I'm on Win 10, AC version 11.1.2 - I crash multiple times a day. Usually I get the "AC must close" message, but sometimes it will freeze up a little for about 3 or 4 seconds, then just shut down with no other warning. Thankfully it does load pretty quickly again.

I have a feeling mine will be fixed when I get off this RDS setup with my server.

Sorry Bert and tcosta! I am not having that many crashes, thankfully. I am have an occasional issue where when I try to print something AC/Computer locks up and will not do anything. Happens maybe once per day and just seemed to start after posting about not having crashes! I hadn't cleared the back up but did just now and it was almost full. Seems like there are more crashes when the hard drive partition is full. We are closed now until Monday. I will let you know in a few days if this seems to help.

Hi Chris,
Well, I always try to look at my network and issues as well. It wasn't doing it before, but we do have this Windows Essentials with Remote Desktop Servers where we RDP into the RDS server. It has its advantages and disadvantages. AC run on the RDS server and each user can open their host session and use all the software on the RDS server. It means that the software runs on the server itself. It certainly runs faster off a VM and on the client which I am moving back to. I doubt I will have the same issues then.
By the way, I am sure you back up to an external source. And, I am sure you know that backups to the same computer aren't the best way to back up. Now, you may want access to quicker located backups. But, I wonder if you know you can turn off that "feature" now so you don't have to worry about building up 15GBs of backups in two weeks or less.
