Is this happening to anyone else? I have 3 workstations and 1 main workstation/server. The server runs Updox Central and shares its Updox printer with everyone else.

Dr. Bob complains that AC locks up *every* time he tries printing to the shared Updox printer.
One of my staff members also has a problem with AC locking up when she prints to the Updox printer, but not always, just sometimes. She claims that restarting AC and/or rebooting the computer does not help. But when I log into her computer, I cannot recreate the problem. It always works for me.

I thought maybe, perhaps, there is an issue with one or more of the latest Windows updates? That's why I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks,
Dana

Just noting that Updox had to install a local printer for Updox yesterday on my networked computers, saying new Windows update security was interfering (I could not print to Updox, but it did not affect AC). With local copy of Updox printer on all my computers it seems to be working OK. It was fairly painless to do, took about 10 minutes. My IT person was very nice. I know this is not your specific problem, but maybe related??? I run AC locally, small network so just a main computer, not a server. I also keep a penny jar in the exam room for tips... Good luck!

We have had an assortment of issues with printing to Updox, primarily since going to the browser version. The fix we have now that seems to be working and reduces those issues is installing Updox Central on each and every workstation. Seems crazy, but that is what they suggested and so far it seems to be working.

I had a lot of problems getting Updox printer working after they discontinued the desktop version.
The newest version of the printer works if you install it on every client -- but you have to uninstall any prior versions first.
I only have Updox central on the main server.
The problem is FINDING the install files.
I searched and searched on the Updox website -- they still actually point you to the old deprecated desktop version.
Finally ran across a "Updox community" userboard, where they had links to the correct printer files.
I'm not sure I could find that again -- it wasn't hidden, but it sure wasn't at the top of the search results.

In addition to Jon's fix, Updox also has a newer Print to Inbox thing that you can try:

https://help.myupdox.com/help/how-to-install-and-use-updox-print-to-inbox

It adds another virtual printer called Updox Printer to your computer.
It seems to rely on Updox central in some different manner than the shared printer you described.
I saw it recommended on Updox's portal and it works fine for us.

Hi Tom,

Maybe this is a screenshot of the Updox community post that you have in mind?

(There are lots of detailed instructions past the initial screenshot.)

Here's the link to the actual post with its links to Updox printer install files:

https://community.updox.com/print-t...-to-install-use-updox-print-to-inbox-111

You have to register on the Updox site with a user name and password to access the page and its files.

And yes, you're right, it's beastly hard to find anything on the Updox community site.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel
