I know there are quite a few out there that use Chromebook as a solution. We just bought one to use sort of like a Kiosk. It's different given that it's Android. I am certainly getting used to it. So, we are having two issues:

1. To set it up in some way that we want, I always have to go in under my settings. I suppose I could add a dummy user. But, the settings don't necessarily "stick" when they go in as guest.
2. Just in general, I have found in the past two or three years that browsers don't seem to remember what the home page is anyway.

Not that this helps, but out of curiousity what model did you get?
What solution did you get it for?

But to try and be helpful..
1. We had one a while ago just to let the docs search safely, and I set up a dummy Google account to use. It wasn't attached to anyone's personal Google stuff.

2. That's strange, usually the home page always sticks when I change it under settings. The Guest mode might not save anything though.

Thanks. It's an HP. We were thinking the same thing. I do hate how the Chrome browser icon is very prominent at the bottom. I am having difficulty with Operate, Chrome, Edge and Firefox as far as the home pages staying the same. Then again, sounds like I must be the one doing it wrong.

Bert,

I sign on each time, and then use my chromebook as my simulated desktop with VNC viewer made for Chrome Enterprise version which is a minimal yearly fee, that I use the intranet to access my Updox and AC in the exam room. I use the chrome browser and works flawlessly this way. I don't have any employees on my chromebook but at home we have several (as I have upgraded to new chromebooks over the years each member of the family gets one LOL) but on any one of the chromebook there can be multiple users with their own specific sign on, and each family member can easily sign on to any one of the dhromebooks and have their specific user identity easily accessible. Thanks to our late Indy, in Laramie Wyoming at the conference there many years ago is where I learned about the chromebook, and still one of the best additions to the practice and personal devices for family and myself.

Hi Bert,

If I understand your posts, you have trouble making a new homepage stick with four different browsers on your HP Chromebook and also for two or three years with other systems.

I can't recall any trouble setting homepages, so I googled and found nothing.

Maybe someone else uses your systems and changes the homepages? Seems unlikely, but I have to ask. (I once found how an office was being infected regularly by stopping by when the office manager's little boy was playing games on his mother's computer with an infected disk from school.)

Maybe you have a fleet of systems infected with the same malware? Also unlikely, but a changed homepage practically screams malware. (That's about all that google comes up with when asked why homepages change.)

Maybe some utility that you use occasionally on all your systems changes homepages as a side-effect? Again, unlikely, particularly since most utilities don't handle both Windows and PCs. (Some cleanup utilities do things to browsers that shouldn't be done.)

Maybe you're changing to a strange homepage whose address changes frequently? Very unlikely, and the browser should just give a 404 error or freeze until you fix it, not gracefully revert to the original homepage. (But what homepage are you setting? Have you tried setting something else as a test?)

Maybe you've discovered a secret method of setting a home page that lasts for only some random time? If so, you're doing it on four different browsers and are an evil computer genius. (But I really doubt that you're doing anything wrong in the simple option to set a home page because if it works once, it keeps on working until something comes along to change it.)

Maybe it's just a weird glitch in the HP Chromebook? Unlikely, since no one else seems to have trouble with it, and you're seeing it on other systems for the last two or three years.

I'm baffled, so I'd love to hear more details.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

I think it has something to do that we a) use M365 and b) are on an RDS server. I have noticed if I can get to go to the sharepoint adress such as https://riverviewpedia.....sh.....com it doesn’t stick, but if I set it enough times it will have RiverviewPediatrics Pages. And, then it sticks. For now anyway.

Hi Bert,

If you're on a Remote Desktop Server, I wonder if the group policy settings are the problem?

When the browse homepage doesn't stick, what does it turn into?

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

Good thoughts, but it shouldn't be able to access the domain/network (at least I hope not) as it is just accessing guest wireless. It's funny, there are millions of settings in the admin user's account for setting his or her settings and, of course, to set the guest. But, nowhere can I find a setting to set the home page or even make it open to anything other than "this is a guest browser." Which is probably the problem. It is telling the user, they can browse using the guest browser, but needs that home page to tell them that.

I will likely end up having to add a sticker to the Chromebook giving them the URL address plus /forms suffix to get them directly to the site. Given my anal-retentive and OCD personality, that will likely bother me for a week or so, then fade away.

koby: yes what a combo new crop and AC reliable as Amazon......NOT
Mnemonic: A lot of fake stuff on Amazon, Just saying.
koby: but they take it back....NewCrops fixed
Mark@AC: Updox System Issues An update has been posted We will be taking the application offline at 4:30 PM (Eastern) to perform emergency maintenance. The application will be down for approximately 1 hour.
AmazingDave: 10/14. Multiple eRx failures. Anyone else?
JBS: eRx not working for us this morning 10/15 630am Eastern
JBS: Looks like its related to the migration - we completed it by NewCrops apparently doesnt think so
beagle: updox is downdox again, 10/15
JBS: updox back up... now if we can just reach Ac to restore eRx
DocMark: eRx is up for us but slow, unworkable
BrotherJon: eRx issue for many. New Crop and AC working on it.
ChrisFNP: yep, refills have crashed twice today

AMCS: Same
AMCS: This is from newcrop: New incident: Investigating We are currently investigating an error that may occur when attempting to transmit prescriptions. This is resulting in prescriptions remaining queued. Our engineers are working on resolution presently.
Bert: I am sure AC knows. It's probably a NewCrop issue and they are working on it
Pinky: It is working now. 1pm EST. 11/11/24.
Clem Surak: Is anyone else using ACPM and the EOBs are not matching up to patient accounts and the EOBs are having to be retyped into ACPM? Started a couple of weeks ago. Payer IDs are correct and match the EOB payer IDs.
tcosta: @ Clem Surak: yes, this has been going on for MONTHS in our office. We've been told it's the payers fault and it has to do with loop segments and payer response. Doesn't make sense to me, considering it's ALL the time now on multiple EOB's a week.
tcosta: It almost never used to happen and now it's constant.
tcosta: ACPM is extremely short staffed and it's taking them days to respond and fix the issue.
Clem Surak: Yes, it has been getting progressively worse. I have a ticket logged, but have not heard back, so I keep retyping the EOBs so that our accounting is up to date. Hope the migration to the new Clearinghouse fixes this issue. Thanks for the response.
Bert: Can anyone tell me where the post is from AIDevelopment
ChrisFNP: Anyone else experinencing sloooowwww prescribing? 11/22/2024 1550CST

DRMO: AC support did a remote assist. problem fixed. TY
ChrisFNP: MIne corrected about 2 cst
Headcase: I cannot Rx Fioricet last few days, put in support ticket....
Headcase: This Fioricet thing probably is of limited general interest, but I was able to send generic...
