Hi,

I am trying to create a poll about whether your practice has been affected by the Prescription Writer/eRx speed problems. If the poll does not work, please just respond "Yes, slowed" or "No, normal"

Thanks

Gene

Has your Prescription Writer and eRx slowed considerably?

This is so helpful, Gene, as it can help rule out single local computers as the cause. Thanks! I am playing phone tag currently with tech support. Turning off interaction checking did not help the problem (and would not be a fix, anyway). I think I ran my tuner the day before I noticed the symptom, BTW. just in case others did the same...

BTW I did try logging in remotely at 4:30 CDT today and the problem persisted, so busy server does not seem to be the problem.

So far, even with interaction checking off, there still appears to be a call to New Crop when opening the Rx Writer window and transmitting Rx originating with prescriber (not pharmacy refill request), which is holding up the population of the window and slowing the Rx transmission. This process is different on version 11, which is why I asked if anyone with slow Rx window is on version 11. If it is slow in version 11, we do not have a solution yet. So...

With my internet disabled, the Rx Window pops up just like it is supposed to.

Very annoying since two days ago. Now getting prescription failure messages. Does anyone know what is going on?

No.

For most of us on this board, the issue started about a week ago. I am experiencing slowness, both opening the rx writer window, and for the erx to be sent.

I have not had any failed rxs.

Jack has been dealing with AC support, I am sure he will post if he has any updated information.

Doesn't everything work faster without internet?

The slowdown is really frustrating -- sitting in the exam room looking at the patients. And looking. Naturally they start bringing up all sorts of problems they hadn't thought they could talk about-- and I get even further behind.

Is this a problem in he cloud version of AC?

It APPEARS that upgrade to version 11 has FIXED the slow pharmacy window issue!

AC is aware but you might want to consider the upgrade. I have not had a chance with the new version to "run it around the block" but the pharmacy window starts right up and I was able to send a prescription!! On the downside, I had started taking a short nap every time I opened the pharmacy window and I was really catching up on my sleep.

Bert, I would like to know what the issue is downloading v11. The link for the tuner is not working. When you click on the link you can only download the installer. Also in the notes it states that you have to notify AC when you are upgrading because something has to be done by Newcrop? Should I get them to do the installation so I do not have to deal with "calling AC when I am upgrading issue".

Hi Raj,

I am not quite ready to upgrade to v11 yet. But I just tried downloading the update.

In both Chrome and Edge I get "Privacy error Your connection is not fully secure"

Anyone from AC available to check this?

Thanks

Also, if you can spare 1/2 day with AC down, it would make sense to have AC do the upgrade, and switch New Crop over.

I usually do the upgrades myself, evening or weekend. It usually works, once I had a frantic call out to AC support the next morning....fortunately they responded quickly and fixed the problem.

Hi Gene,

Your connection-not-fully-secure message from Chrome and Edge probably means that the browsers don't like the AC site certificate.

It's a bit tricky to fix it at your end by changing browser internal settings, but you can look here to see what's involved:

https://tinyurl.com/vs8u7kph

If enough upgraders complain, AC may look into updating the site certificate.

To be fair, it isn't easy to keep sites up to date and working perfectly.

I have fond memories of checking and unchecking box after box in internet explorer to make it work with early EMR programs.

It was tedious but satisfying when the silly things began to work.

Cheers,

Update: Prescription window still working good in version 11. This version of 11 does not yet allow bypass of NewCrop screen, but is working still as it should... A subsequent version of 11 is supposed to allow controlled substance prescribing fully from within AC. Also, the disk drive will dispense fentanyl. The new rule requiring specifying Unit of Measure (tablet, capsule, package) for first Rx of any med after update to 11 is annoying at first, but once specified for a drug it remembers it, and AC is not at blame for the rule. My upgrade to 11 experience was smooth and quick (90 minutes tops). I highly recommend it. Everyone should try it. Trussst in me, jussssst in me, sssshut your eyessss, trusssst in me....

Hi Jack,

Appreciate your comments. I just started a new poll to see if other users have had improvement as well.

Jack,

Have you run into the problem of two choices of pharmacies in town, such as two walmarts or walgreens, but the store # not the address show when I e-scribe. How can you get the address to show? Otherwise I will have to memorize the store #'s too which will be a pain in the arse.

The UOM is such a waste of time and terribly painful, but I figured out how to pick out the right pharmacy, just have to remember and slow down, after entering UOM (selecting tablet after already specifying tablet in sig) click prepare script and then can hit search icon to choose preferred pharmacy, and can distinguish which particular walmart or walgreen by address.

Having the slow prescription problem since early May.
Just got off phone w/ AC tech support.
I was told that a recent change by eprescibe caused these delays, and that delays of 10-20 seconds are now considered normal.
I am on 10.0.2, but he told me to expect similar delay w/ 11.0.
So, another new feature!

Hi Victor,

When are you planning to do the v11 update?

Please post results when you do.

The advice Victor got from support sounds wrong. If it is correct, that is infuriating.

Every time I open the script writer, or send a prescription, I literally think of the thread on Alternative EMRs. Seriously.

FWIW, I was told by AC that the information Victor was given is incorrect. We should NOT expect a 10-20 second delay to eprescribe in V11.0.
