Hi everyone,
I have been using Dragon Medical version 4 for several years. Recognition accuracy has gradually been going down. I was wondering whether a new microphone might be necessary.
Today Dragon would not open. I uninstalled it using control panel, reinstalled, still would not open. So I used Revo uninstaller to remove it completely, including speech files, and then reinstalled.
Amazing improvement. Without having my speech files, accuracy is actually far better than it had been.
So if you have any concerns about Dragon, consider uninstall and reinstall.

I've been using Dragon since about V. 9 -- probably 12 years ago. While accuracy has increased significantly (now on v15 Professional) it is still true that you need a good mike and have to speak clearly with as little inflection as possible. It isn't like reading a story to your kids.
Over time, microphones have improved, and the mikes in the X220 and X-1 Carbon work fine for me in a very quiet environment -- they don't have any noise-cancelling ability.
The odd characteristic of Dragon is that when you do successive "learning" routines it gets better for a while, then seems to start becoming LESS accurate. I have occasionally resorted to creating a new profile -- you can add the word list from the old profile to the new one.
I have never used Dragon Medical -- just use the regular Dragon. It works OK in a remote window, but of course you can't use it and Amazing Charts on the same machine.
